Authorities in Florida are on the lookout for a woman accused of siphoning off substantial sums from homeowners’ associations to fund her personal lifestyle, which reportedly included cosmetic surgery, shopping excursions, and luxury vacations.

Alexandra Delacaridad Gonzalez, who was employed as a bookkeeper at Avant-Garde Property Management, is facing a slew of charges. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office has issued warrants for her arrest on two counts of fraud over $50,000, two counts of grand theft, 61 counts of uttering false instruments, and 59 counts of embezzlement. Her bond is set at a staggering $1,350,000.

The allegations against Gonzalez suggest a calculated scheme involving the forging of signatures of authorized account holders. She allegedly wrote checks to herself from the HOA accounts she managed, fabricating invoices and ledger entries to cover her tracks over an extended period.

Sheriff John Budensiek shed light on the scale of the alleged fraud, as reported by WPBF. “The suspect began with smaller sums—$2,000 per transaction—but would carry out this scheme multiple times a week, roughly five times,” he explained. “This amounted to around $10,000 weekly funneled into her personal accounts, eventually escalating to $5,000 per transaction before her employment was terminated and a warrant was issued for her arrest.”

Further details reported by KVAL 13 revealed that Gonzalez allegedly used the misappropriated funds for trips, including visits to Disney World and New York.

As the investigation continues, homeowners may find themselves facing the financial repercussions of Gonzalez’s alleged misconduct, potentially having to cover the losses incurred.

“Could they get higher HOA fees? The answer is yes, potentially,” Budensiek said, according to WPBF. “I mean, $200,000 for an HOA is a lot of money and so, we’re actually furious at this lady [who] had the nerve to do what she did and take advantage of our citizens.”

Police have identified Whitemarsh Reserve Homeowners Association and The Dunes of Hutchinson Island as victims.

A spokesperson from Avant‑Garde Property Management did not immediately return a call for comment from Oxygen. Budensiek said, according to KVAL 13that the owner of Avant-Garde was “embarrassed and mortified” by Gonzalez’s alleged actions.

Police say they believe that Gonzalez might be in Miramar in Broward County or Vero Beach area in Indian River County, per the release, and urge anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts to contact the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
