Powell and Sweeney sparked romance rumors after they were seen together at Joe Leo Fine Tex Mex restaurant in Dallas and then at the wedding.

The rumors about Powell and Sweeney’s relationship came amid the latter calling off her wedding to her fiancé Jonathan Davino.

Powell appeared on Wednesday’s episode of “Today with Jenna & Friends” and addressed his and Sweeney’s reunion and the speculations it caused.

The “Top Gun: Maverick” actor and his family celebrated his sister Leslie’s wedding in Texas over the weekend, and Sweeney attended.

Powell confirmed Sweeney’s attendance and revealed she and Leslie are friends. He said, “Timing is everything in this world, isn’t it? She [Leslie] and Syd are obviously great friends and it was a hell of a wedding.”

The actor boasted, “The Powells know how to do it right, so all the people that love her were there.”

Powell gave more details about the wedding, revealing he served as a groomsman and gave a speech.

He shared, “It was just such a fun, rowdy wedding. The Powells know how to crank it up,” before joking that he was picked to give a speech because he was “probably the lowest liability in the family.”

On Sunday, Deuxmoi shared photos of Sweeney and Powell dining with friends at Joe Leo Fine Tex.

The “Anyone But You” costars looked relaxed while chatting and enjoying their meal.

Sources revealed that Sweeney had flown to Texas to attend Leslie’s wedding and joined the family for brunch, though Powell wasn’t present.

However, a source told TMZ that Sweeney didn’t attend Leslie’s nuptials as Powell’s date, adding that she and her best friend had RSVP’d to the wedding months before her split from Davino.

Powell’s mom, Cyndy, moved quickly to deny rumors of any relationship between her son and Sweeney.

During an extraordinary tell-all phone call with the Daily Mail, Cyndy called rumors of their romance “silly” because “they’re definitely not together.”

She also said, “[There is] nothing going on behind closed doors,” before adding, “We love Sydney. We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend.”

Cyndy also told the outlet, “We all were together so much, and we haven’t seen her in a long time. She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.”

Sweeney and Davino began dating in 2018, got engaged in 2022, and were reportedly set to wed in May this year.

However, insiders revealed to Daily Mail that “major issues” were plaguing their relationship, though it remains unclear if they also ended it. The source also shared that the couple was going through a “rough patch” and trying to “reassess” whether they should remain together.

Another source told Us Weekly that Sweeney and Davino had “called off the wedding” but had not broken up.

They said, “Sydney and Jonathan have been having major issues but are not fully split. Things are not great right now, but they aren’t throwing in the towel yet. They are working on their relationship but have called off the wedding for now.”

The source continued, “They were supposed to get married this spring. The wedding is not happening, and they aren’t having further discussions about it. Sydney wanted to cancel everything and couldn’t handle the stress.”

The insider also said, “A lot of their issues stem from Sydney being extremely busy with work commitments.”

As Sydney Sweeney navigates her relationship troubles, it is unlikely the rumors linking her and Glen Powell to a relationship will ease off.

However, the former costars have always clarified that they are nothing more than good friends.

During a December 2023 joint interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Sweeney said of their chemistry in the movie, “I mean, we sold a rom-com. We were just filming a fun, amazing movie.”

Powell added, “We truly love each other, and we respect each other. We had the greatest time making this thing.”

Sweeney also addressed rumors that she cheated on Davino while filming the movie during her “Saturday Night Live” opening monologue in March 2024, saying, “That’s obviously not true. Me and my fiancé produced the movie together and he was there the entire shoot.”
