Don’t say it’s the end! Doctor Odyssey must sail again.
After 17 episodes and numerous injuries, we have finally reached the Season 1 conclusion of ABC and Ryan Murphy’s thrilling yet lighthearted medical drama. Starring Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale, the show sets sail for its final episode of the season, promising a suspenseful experience.
In the second-to-last episode — SPOILER ALERT — two earthquakes and a tsunami left The Odyssey’s Dr. Max (Jackson) stranded on land. The second quake hit so hard it caused a church to collapse on Max just as he was preparing to assist Avery (Soo) and Tristan (Teale) in a surgery. In defiance of their corporate directives, tonight’s episode will have Captain Robert (Johnson) steering the cruise ship back to shore in a bid to rescue Max and others in distress. The question remains: will they get there in time to save him?

Has Doctor Odyssey Been Canceled? Renewed For A Season 2? I Need Deets!
Unfortunately, everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure show has NOT been renewed for Season 2 … yet. As of air date, the show is currently on the bubble and could go either way, according to recent reports. Earlier this week, one ABC exec even said that the show’s fate rests in the hands of Murphy, who will ultimately decide if more episodes are warranted.
“I really love Doctor Odyssey, I think it’s a wildly inventive show, and we’re doing everything we can to support it,” Eric Schrier, President of Disney TV Studios, recently said. “That decision ultimately lies with Ryan Murphy, whether Ryan wants to continue to do it, and he feels like there’s stories to tell that he feels confident in.”
The first 17 episodes of Doctor Odyssey are currently streaming on Hulu and Disney+. New episodes release Thursday nights on ABC.
