Miley Cyrus‘ sister, Brandi Cyrus, is achieving new heights in her career, much to the delight of her well-known family. This success brings a welcome change after months of turmoil and conflict that have affected the family, an exclusive source shared with In Touch.
“The family has been dealing with a lot of emotional weight and challenges lately, so whenever they encounter something positive, they fully embrace it,” said the insider, discussing the family’s response to Brandi, 37, being chosen as the opening performer for country icon Kenny Chesney’s Las Vegas stay.
“Upon hearing that Brandi secured this opportunity, Miley organized a big surprise party to honor her,” the source mentioned about Brandi’s younger sister, who is 32.
“This gig is massive for Brandi, she’s had to contend with living in Miley’s shadow for so long, everyone is thrilled to see her getting something so monumental and high profile of her own. She’s always been so supportive of everyone else’s career, so it does feel like it’s her turn and very much deserved,” the insider adds.
“It’s not going to bring the family totally back together or heal the wounds, but it has been a bridge for connection,” the source says of Brandi’s adoptive dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, and her mom, Tish Cyrus, in addition to her four siblings. Brandi is the biological daughter of Tish and her ex-husband, Baxter Helson. She was later adopted by Billy Ray, 63, after he married Tish, 57, in December 1993.
The insider dishes, “Billy Ray has sent his congratulations, and Noah and Braison have reached out too and talked about coming to see the show.”
The country singer revealed she would be the performing act for all of Kenny’s 15 shows at The Sphere in an Instagram post on March 15. Brandi called it “a once in a lifetime experience,” adding she couldn’t wait “to put together an extra special show for y’all.” The residency kicks off on May 22.
Brandi’s family is still somewhat fractured following her parents’ 2022 divorce after 28 years of marriage. Billy Ray and Tish share five children: sons Trace Cyrus, 36, Braison Cyrus, 30, and daughters Brandi, Miley and Noah Cyrus, 25.

When Tish got married to actor Dominic Purcell in August 2023, Brandi, Miley and Trace attended the ceremony, while Trace and Noah skipped the nuptials.
Billy Ray went on to marry fellow singer Firerose (real name Johanna Rosie Hodges) two months later in October 2023. The duo’s union ended in June 2024, when the “Achy Breaky Heart” crooner tried to get their marriage annulled, and the pair finalized their divorce in August 2024.
Noah showed that she and her mom have seemingly repaired their relationship following the wedding snub. The two reunited for a fun TikTok dance video that the “Again” singer posted on April 9. Noah even joked in the caption that she would be replacing her sister on the “Sorry We’re Cyrus” podcast that Brandi cohosts with Tish.
“Go unity and family healing,” one fan cheered in the comments, while a second noted, “WAR IS OVER.”
Miley and Billy Ray’s relationship still remains strained. The Grammy winner discussed her complicated relationship with her dad in June 2024 on David Letterman‘s Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
“I’m grateful for being able to watch him ahead of me. He’s almost given me this map. And there’s a map of what to do and what not to do, and he’s guided me on both,” the “Flowers’ singer said about how she’s looked at her father’s career while forging her own path.
“Honestly, my mom is my hero,” Miley went on to gush about Tish, while explaining she was raised primarily by her mother.

An insider exclusively told In Touch in January how Billy Ray was hoping that 2025 would see he and Miley repair the relationship, saying, “All he wants this year is to get Miley back in his life,” and was having a hard time accepting that their estrangement could be permanent.
“It’s pretty heartbreaking for Billy Ray because Miley has totally cut him off and has even been talking about what a great year she had in 2024, as though this feud with her dad didn’t even upset her,” the source added. “He’s completely depressed over the situation and worried that if he can’t break through to her soon, they might end up estranged forever.”
That same month, Trace — whom Billy Ray adopted after he married Tish in 1993 — penned an open letter to his dad, expressing his concerns in a very public way.
“Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years, but you’ve pushed all of us away,” Trace wrote about himself and his sisters via Instagram on January 22. “Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow just like me she still idolizes you though. We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew and hoping for the day he returns.”
“I love you, Dad. We haven’t talked in a while but I’m over a year and half clean from alcohol. Guess what? I feel amazing,” Trace continued. “I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly, but I think I have a pretty good idea, and I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me. Till [sic] that day comes I will continue to pray for you.”
Billy Ray responded in a YouTube Shorts video on January 26, where he posted a clip from his music video for “Someone Said a Prayer.”
“Sunday callin. Giving thanks for the California rain. Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain, he began in the caption. “Praying for my family. For my children … sons and daughters … and their mother. Let this moment be the start of healing for us all. ‘The past does not equal the future.’ Amen.”

Noah seemingly addressed her family’s drama in the ballad “Don’t Put It All On Me.” The song featured indie folk band Fleet Foxes was cowritten and produced by Noah’s brother Braison.
She sang the heartbreaking lyrics, “You couldn’t be honest with me, but I know you tried to / But beauty will blind you / Don’t put it all on me.”
“I have always been the observer in our family,” Noah said in a statement about the tune. “And Braison wrote about how I tend to carry the weight of that on my shoulders.”
Not only did Braison produce his sister’s track, but he’s also producing his dad’s new album as well.
