How Jigawa govt plans to spend N1.4b on graveyards, mosques

The commissioner said that the money was approved by the State Executive Council.

He added that part of the money would be used to construct palaces of District Heads.

According to the commissioner, the N1.4 billion is for 2023 Constituency Projects.

Meanwhile, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development under former president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration came under fire on social media in the year 2021 following a leaked memo conveying the approval of N30m for the construction of a ‘Friday’ mosque with taxpayers’ funds.

The ministry was led by Alhaji Mohammed Nanono, who was appointed by the President Buhari in 2019.

A former lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye who reacted to the memo tweeted, “What! Despite all the challenges facing food security, building a mosque is the Federal Ministry of Agriculture’s priority! To pray for rain or what? How did we get here for Heaven sake? What has the government got to do with churches or mosques?”
