Microsoft is taking steps to phase out Internet Explorer after many years of service. The tech giant has announced plans to discontinue support for Internet Explorer 11, the final version of the browser, starting on June 15, 2022. This decision marks the end of an era for a browser that once dominated the internet browsing market.
Internet Explorer, first released in 1995, quickly became a staple for Windows users and was the most widely used web browser in the world by the early 2000s. However, over the years, its popularity has waned due to the rise of faster and more secure browsers like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Microsoft has been encouraging users to transition to its newer browser, Microsoft Edge, which the company touts as a faster and more secure alternative. Edge, built on the Chromium open-source project, offers users compatibility with modern web standards and additional features that enhance browsing safety and performance.
The company reassures users that Microsoft Edge includes an Internet Explorer mode, designed to support legacy sites that still require IE11 functionality. This mode allows businesses and other organizations to continue accessing older web applications while gradually transitioning to the new browser environment.
As Microsoft officially retires Internet Explorer, it urges users to make the switch to Microsoft Edge well before the cutoff date to ensure a seamless browsing experience. The move aligns with Microsoft’s broader strategy to streamline its products and services, focusing on innovation and security in the digital age.

Howie Mandel has issued an apology to Kelly Ripa after he snapped at her during his appearance on Live With Kelly And Mark earlier this week.
The 70-year-old TV personality had joined Ripa as well as her co-host and husband Mark Consuelos as a guest on Monday’s episode.
At one point, the pair brought up how great he looked at his age with Ripa saying that ‘it doesn’t make any sense.’ However, he clapped back and explained he did not like how the compliment was phrased.
Mandel jumped to his main Instagram page on Saturday to explain that the interaction was ‘meant as a joke.’
While standing outside near a sandy shore, the star told his followers: ‘I’ve been debating for 48 hours whether I should make this post or not, and I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing.
‘Philosophically, I don’t believe that somebody who’s a comedian needs to apologize for a joke. It is a joke, it is meant as a joke, and it’s not meant to offend.’

The media personality added that ‘you can not like it and, in all my years – 50 years in in the business – I haven’t ever publicly apologized for [a joke].’
Mandel then admitted ‘this is hard for me’ before giving a message directly to Ripa.
He expressed that she has been ‘incredibly supportive’ of him over the years and added, ‘Not only have I been a guest on her show, but I have cohosted with her and I have known her for years.’
The star said that when he ‘goes out there, I just try to be entertaining and funny.
‘And sometimes as a comedian, things don’t land the way you mean them to land. And… I don’t know how to say this…’
Following a brief pause, Mandel stated, ‘Not only do I want to say I’m sorry to Kelly but – and this is the hardest part – you’re right. You’re absolutely right, and I’m sorry I didn’t see it that way.
‘But after a lot of thought and self reflection, I… I look great for age, I really do. I really… I look fantastic. And I just have to embrace the fact that I look this good,’ he said in conclusion.
In the caption of his latest post, the comedian simply typed out: ‘Message to @kellyripa.’
