A Gold Coast influencer has stirred up controversy online after posting a video that features her encouraging her underage daughter to twerk.
Kat Clark, who moved to the United States with her husband Jonathan and their teenage daughter Deja just last year, faced significant criticism on Saturday following the release of the Instagram video.
The skit shows the 39-year-old TikTok personality asking her 15-year-old daughter to “turn around and shake it,” which led Deja to begin twerking on camera.
Once Deja completed her dance, Kat jokingly pretended there had been a misunderstanding, clarifying: “I meant your hair.”
In response, Deja removed her hat and turned around once more, this time playfully shaking out her curly hair.
Despite the backlash, many fans expressed their support for the comedic duo, proclaiming they were “obsessed” with Deja and encouraging her with cheers of “get it.”

However, some pointed out that it was inappropriate for Deja to be dancing in such a manner online because she was just ‘a kid’.
‘Umm she’s 15 yo!’ one person wrote, while another added: ‘She’s a kid.’
‘Underage btw [and your] daughter,’ a third added.
‘A mother encouraging her 15 year old to shake her a*** on the internet for thousands of people,’ began someone else.
‘WOW! And people encouraging it even. These comments are gross.’

Kat last courted controversy in June 2025 when she was slammed for complaining about living in Los Angeles while anti-ICE protests raged through the city.

However, Kat appeared oblivious to the chaos at the time as she uploaded a vlog about her daily inconveniences in LA.
‘Australians and Americans may speak the same language, but today proved we live completely different lives. Firstly, why is there no good coffee in LA?’ she began.
‘They also take security very seriously,’ she added as she showed footage of storefronts locked up with security gates.
Kat then went on to complain about people not using towels at the gym.
‘These are just the small things I’ve noticed since moving here. Wait until you see what else I learned,’ she continued.
‘They love their ranch. They’ve got litres of it. They even have tuna flavoured bacon ranch. That sounds gross,’ Kat added as she visited a Ralphs grocery store.
‘I’m not going to lie, they have a lot of questionable things here, but they also have a lot of things that just make sense.’
Followers flocked to the comments of the video to slam Kat for appearing to ignore the riots and military presence throughout LA.

‘U not been on the news?’ one person wrote, as another added: ‘Kat completely oblivious to what’s happening in LA right now.’
Kat responded to the comments, explaining she was aware of what had been happening in the city.
‘I hear you and I’ve been following everything closely,’ she said.
‘As someone on a visa, I have to be mindful about what I say, but please know I’m listening, learning and supporting where I can.’
