Streamers are obsessed with Benito Skinner’s sensational new college comedy Overcompensating.

Currently streaming on Prime Video, this highly addictive coming-of-age series captures Benny (Skinner), a closeted freshman who quickly bonds with Carmen (Wally Baram), an ambitious high school outsider determined to fit in at any cost. Featuring Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, Rish Shah, and Holmes, this enchanting series is brimming with originality, blending clever humor and emotional depth to craft one of 2025’s most entertaining new shows.

Watch it now and thank us later.

Viewers who have already consumed Amazon’s exciting new hit’s first season are eagerly awaiting more. Has Overcompensating been renewed for a second season? Is there a Season 2 on the horizon for Overcompensating on Prime Video? Here’s what we’ve discovered so far.

How Many Episodes Are There of Amazon’s Overcompensating?

The first season of Overcompensating consists of eight total episodes.

Who’s In The Cast of Overcompensating?

Overcompensating boasts one of the most extensive casts on streaming. The series headlined by Benito Skinner, Wally Baram, Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, and Rish Shah also includes Andrea Martin, Connie Britton, Kyle MacLachlan, Kaia Gerber, Julia Shiplett, Nell Verlaque, Owen Thiele, and Holmes in recurring roles.

The show also has a slew of high-profile guest stars, including Lukas Gage, Megan Fox, Bowen Yang, Matt Rogers, James Van Der Beek, Didi Conn, and Charli XCX.

Where To Watch Overcompensating:

Overcompensating is now streaming on Prime Video, which is available for $14.99/month or $139/year. A standalone Prime Video membership is also an option for $8.99/month, and an ad-free version of Prime is available for an additional $2.99/month.

Amazon offers a discounted student option for $7.49/month or $69/year, and EBT, Medicaid, SNAP, and other select government assistance recipients can qualify for a reduced $6.99/month membership.

You can sample the service by taking advantage of Prime Video’s 30-day free trial.

Will There Be a Season 2 of Overcompensating on Prime Video?

There’s no official word on a second season, but there are a variety of factors that point to a renewal. The show has been a hit with both fans and critics, currently boasting an impressive 94% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. Plus, as I’m writing this, the series is the No. 1 show on Prime Video. Take THAT, Reacher.

No spoilers here, but Overcompensating ends on a cliffhanger, and series creator Benito Skinner recently told Variety that he’s “ready to go” when it comes to a potential sophomore season.

“I think I know what I want to do, and there’s so much more we wanna say,” Skinner said. “There will be backslide, and that’s what that finale is. This journey of becoming yourself and overcompensating, it’s a rollercoaster and at times I think college can be so selfish and you can be like, it’s every man for himself. It’s drugs and alcohol and feelings and we didn’t want to stray from that, and we want to continue it.”

“I know what Benny has planned for Season 2 if we get one, and it’s insane, it’s so good,” star Adam DiMarco teased. “I wish I could tell you. I don’t really know what to say other than it’s just more unhinged and more insane than this season.”

Based on the above information, we believe there’s a very good chance that Overcompensating will be back for a second season. C’mon, Amazon. You can’t flunk a show that earned straight A’s!

All eight episodes of Overcompensating are now streaming on Prime Video.
