Jameela Jamil doubles down on calling Blake Lively a 'suicide bomber'

Jameela Jamil has openly embraced the public exposure of her incendiary texts, where she labeled Blake Lively a “suicide bomber,” stating that the revelation has left her feeling “liberated.”

The 39-year-old British actress was in the midst of a conversation with Jennifer Abel, publicist to her friend Justin Baldoni, back in August 2024. This occurred as allegations of challenging behavior on set began to surface against Baldoni, the director of “It Ends With Us.”

Fast forward to December 2024, when Blake Lively, 38, initiated legal action against Baldoni. She accused him of sexual harassment and conducting a smear campaign during their work on the domestic violence-themed film, in which Baldoni played both director and co-star.

Baldoni has refuted all allegations made by Lively, and although he filed a counter-lawsuit against her, it was ultimately dismissed.

Recent court documents, unsealed as the legal proceedings continue, have unveiled private exchanges among several involved parties. These include conversations between Jameela and Jennifer, which reveal derogatory remarks about Blake.

In these messages, the “Good Place” actress disparaged Blake by calling her a “suicide bomber” and described her behavior as “a bizarre villain act,” adding to Jennifer that “She’s OVER over.”

Court documents were unsealed last week, revealing private communications – including messages between Jameela and Jennifer that showed the pair mocking Blake

Writing on Substack, Jameela hit back at critics, declaring: ‘I don’t want to be some Hollywood robot, speaking through the lens of a publicist.

‘I don’t want to carefully craft my output to have an avatar of myself liked. I want to be liked and loathed for my true self.’

The newly released text exchanges occurred when the Gossip Girl star faced severe public backlash for her ‘tone-deaf’ promotion of It Ends With Us.

Fans had criticised Blake for focusing on the film’s ‘flowery, romantic elements’ rather than its serious themes about domestic violence, with some accusing her of making the promotional tour about her own creative involvement and personal brand.

In the messages, when Justin’s publicist Jennifer said Blake was ‘doing this to herself’, Jameela replied: ‘She’s a suicide bomber at this point.’

After Blake attempted to address the criticism by sharing domestic violence hotline resources and statistics, Jameela wrote: ‘Did you see Blake post that survivors link? Dead.’

She added: ‘So cold; Just some stats and a link,’ before concluding: ‘I’ve never seen such a bizarre villain act before; She’s OVER over.’

Now, in her new Substack essay, Jameela has defended her actions and claimed women secretly enjoy that she doesn’t conform to the ‘Stepford celebrities’ dominating Hollywood.

‘I don’t think it’s helpful to women to have a bunch of stepford celebrities, all with the same face, body and talking points to look to,’ she wrote.

‘Annually I get my public flogging from mostly women online, who each insist that this is it! This will finally be the end of me.

‘And yet I only grow in following because secretly a lot of women are fascinated by a woman who behaves like a zoo animal at times, and keeps scraping her way through her dreams.’

She continued: ‘While I HATE that my privacy was invaded by my texts being unredacted and leaked… I have to say… I feel a sense of liberation from it.

‘Not only because I am always trying to cannonball/belly flop off the pedestal I get frequently thrust upon for just giving a s***.

‘But also, because we need to see more examples of how women talk with their girlfriends when their girlfriends are hurting.

‘My texts are vitriolic because I’m angry my friend is being mistreated. I create space for an Itty Bitty S***y Committee… where nobody is judged for being gratuitously gossipy and shallow and petty and mean, because it’s a safe, private space. A victimless crime.’

Justin has denied all of Blake’s allegations against him, and his $400 million counter-lawsuit against the actress was dismissed. The trial between the two stars is scheduled for May 2026.

The unsealed court documents also revealed other private communications, including tensions in Blake’s friendship with Taylor Swift, with text messages showing the longtime friends trying to restore their relationship after Taylor complained that Blake’s communications had started to resemble a ‘mass corporate email’.

Messages from Blake’s It Ends With Us co-star Jenny Slate were also included, with the actress describing the production as ‘a really gross and disturbing shoot’ and calling Justin and producer Jamey Heath ‘truly unfit’.

Following the release of her texts last week, Jameela posted a TikTok video in which she insisted women don’t need to like each other to support gender equality.
