It looks like the Obamas and the Bush family have a lot more in common than just spending time in the White House.
Jenna Bush Hager aired a segment on Today With Jenna & Friends featuring Michelle Obama from her recent guest appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, where the former first lady shared how she and Barack Obama enjoy playfully teasing one another.
“We have an agreement, Barack and I, in our marriage and it began very early on. It’s like, I can tease you but you cannot tease me,” Michelle explained to Poehler. “When Malia, Sasha, and I are together, he doesn’t stand a chance. We mercilessly tease him. So yes, teasing is our love language.”
Bush Hager noted that her father, former U.S. President George W. Bush, has a similar sense of humor.
“I get that,” she mentioned to Erin Andrews, her co-host for the week. “Growing up, we loved to tease my dad and he usually enjoys it, especially when he’s in a good mood.”
But the Today host also had a major realization: “I just realized why my dad and Mrs. Obama are friends, they have the same love language!”
This comes as no surprise, considering Bush Hager once revealed that her father turned a public appearance they made together into a “one hour roast.”
Bush Hager was moderating a conversation with her parents, but her father reportedly kept derailing the discussion.
“I would give some insight here or there when I felt like I could, but other than that, heâd be like, âYeah, OK Jenna, why donât you tell everybody about the time you were arrested?’â she said on Today.
She continued, “I would ask questions he would roast me a little, I would ask a question, slight roast. But it was fun and funny.â
Bush Hager also mentioned that former President Obama was in attendance at the event and had been watching the panel.
“He was like, âHow do you do that? Why do you come to do this?â Because he must have seen some of the roasting. And he said, âThis must be hard for you,â and I said, âYes it is,’” Bush Hager recounted.
