Jonathan Jackson‘s run on General Hospital is coming to an end… again.

DECIDER confirms that the actor is officially leaving the ABC soap opera. As reported by TV Insider, who first shared the news on Thursday (June 5) about his exit from the series, Jackson initially portrayed Lucky Spencer starting in 1993, continuing until 1999. He briefly returned to the role in 2015 and made another comeback this past August.

“Lucky is back on @generalhospital today!” Jackson shared in an Aug. 23, 2024 Instagram post. “Exciting things to come. Much love!”

Jackson, whose last episode on the series will air next week, has appeared in over 450 episodes of General Hospital since 1993, per IMDb.

In an official statement, General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini expressed their pleasure, stating, “We were delighted that Jonathan could return as Lucky, even for a brief period.”

“We wish him nothing but the best and the door is always open for Jonathan to return,” he added.

Before the episode aired on Thursday afternoon, Valentini took to X, saying, “Liz and Lucky’s relationship reaches a turning point…is there a future for them?,” tagging Jackson and his co-star, Rebecca Herbst, in the post.

Jackson is also known for starring as Avery Barkley on all six seasons of Nashville, as well as in 2002’s Insomnia and Tuck Everlasting. Outside of his return to General Hospital, he most recently starred in Unsung Hero, a film from Richard L. Ramsey and Christian pop duo For King & Country member Joel Smallbone.
