Katie Price shocked herself and judge John Torode when she rustled up a praise-worthy crab noodles dish on Celebrity MasterChef.

On tonight’s episode of the BBC One cooking show, airing at 9 pm, the former glamour model, aged 43, appears puzzled when tasked with creating a dish using a crab.

‘The trouble with this show is you’re not allowed to use tinned stuff,’ she jokes.

Despite her initial confusion, she manages to smash the shell with a mallet, likening the experience to ‘an autopsy.’ The mother of five goes on to impress judge John Torode with her crab noodles featuring garlic and chili.

Her participation in the show occurs amid news that she was taken to the hospital early Monday morning due to an eye injury from a reported incident.

Police were called after the incident occurred at a property in Essex, who called for paramedics.

The Sun report that a man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently being held in custody.

In a statement to MailOnline, Essex police said: ‘We were called by colleagues in the ambulance service to reports of an assault in The Meadows, Little Canfield, shortly after 1.30am this morning, Monday 23 August.

‘We arrived and found a woman had sustained a facial injury which required hospital treatment. A man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody.’

In a further statement, Essex police added: ‘Our investigations are continuing at the scene today.’

A source close to the 43-year-old told the paper: ‘Katie is, understandably, utterly devastated.’

In tonight’s episode of MasterChef, presenter Joe Swash, ex footballer Dion Dublin, actor Melissa Johns and furniture expert Will Kirk also take to the kitchen – but Katie soon realises she has little to worry about.

Highlighting his lack of expertise, Joe admits: ‘I give my kids enough nourishment to keep them alive. But they love going for dinner at other people’s houses.’

Home life: Katie also offered a glimpse into her life at home with her five children during the pandemic

Elsewhere, the Repair Shop’s Will fails to impress with the raw chicken he serves the judges.

And it’s not all plain sailing for Katie either, who has a disastrous second round when her dumplings don’t cook through – on two separate occasions.

‘They are so shocking I’m not going to put them on the plate,’ she says. ‘It’s not like I didn’t put the effort in, I really did put in the effort, right til the last minute.’

Meanwhile, after Katie opts to make a toad in the hole as part of the third round, where the celebrities are asked to create a dish they’d make at a dinner party, she jokes: ‘It’s messy – story of my life.’

Overall, Katie says she enjoyed the experience.

‘I know it’s a competition but I’ve actually enjoyed it,’ she enthuses. ‘I would cook more if I knew what I was doing.’

MailOnline has contacted Katie’s representatives for comment.
