She never fails to enjoy some well-earned down time each year by kicking back with her friends for a weekend at Coachella Festival.

Katy Perry maintained her bohemian fashion display, donning a playful floral two-piece as she attended the third day of the annual Californian music event at the Empire Polo Club in Indio on Sunday.

The 29-year-old artist flaunted her toned abs in a feminine and flirty cornflower blue crop top, offering a glimpse of her flat stomach.

The Roar hitmaker teamed her cropped vest with a matching high-waisted skirt that was rather daringly double slashed all the way up her thigh.

Adding a rock chick element to her look, the California native opted for a pair of sensible, yet stylish, black suede shoe boots, while toting her belongings in a small leather backpack.

Wearing her recently-dyed raven and green locks tousled into loose curls, Katy completed her ensemble with a slick of bright fuchsia lipstick and a pair of dark Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses to shelter her eyes from the piercing desert rays.

But one rather unfortunate accessory the pop princess perhaps didn’t bank on was a spot of unsightly sunburn across her chest.

Katy seemed to have thrown herself into the festival vibe, joking that the sandstorm at Coachella on Sunday had the same effect on her locks as dry shampoo.

Writing on her Twitter page, she said: ‘Sand is the new dry shampoo. #coachella.’

But the music megastar set out a few rather specific rules when it came to festival etiquette, slamming generic floral hair garlands and warning her fans against taking numerous selfies.

And it would appear Katy has relaxed her pre-tour diet for the weekend, joking that while she was given healthy kale for lunch, she was looking forward to a cheeky beer.

The singer spent some time lounging at Soho House’s Desert House pop-up with musician James Blake, Sam Smith, with singer Fergie and actress Katharine McPhee also in attendance.

Soho House and BACARDI to hosted the exclusivean invite-only weekend-long celebration which took place at a private estate in La Quinta, a sprawling villa with rolling lawns and a spectacular poolside area.

Guests enjoyed spiked fresh juices from BACARDI, lawn games and a rotating cast of DJs, as well as a relaxation and an energizing room, both hosted by Spotify, the leading music streaming service. 

BMW shuttled talent and guests to and from the festival in a fleet of their cars that included their new i3 electric car. 

Katy later tweeted: ‘Thank you @sohohouse #deserthouse for the kale option! I was not trying to have beer for lunch. #classycoachella. But seriously can I have a beer now? #kindaclassycoachella.’

On Saturday night, Katy set tongues wagging when she was spotted hanging out with close pal Robert Pattinson at the H&M Loves Music party, where they were spotted posing for a photo together.

A source told Celebuzz: ‘They arrived separately 10 minutes apart from one another around 1:30 am. The two met up at the VIP section during Major Lazer’s set and shared a friendly hug.’

The 27-year-old actor has been single since breaking up with Kristen Stewart last year, while Katy recently ended her relationship to fellow singer John Mayer.

While there have been rumours that the two were more than friends, last year a video surfaced of Rob and Katy playfully performing karaoke together back in 2008 – with the pop princess being quick to deny any hint of romance between them.

Addressing the video, she said: ‘We were just hanging out, we have a lot of, er, friends…one of my best friends is a mutual friend of ours.

‘We got wasted and did karaoke, like people do, about eight years ago and it f***ing finally showed up on the internet! At least this shows that we’re actually friends!’

Rap duo OutKast headlined the 2014 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, ending a half-decade hiatus for one of hip-hop’s most popular and important acts.

They were joined by Arcade Fire and Muse as headliners for the festival that plays over two weekends in the desert city located two hours from Los Angeles.

Other acts scheduled to perform on Sunday included British pop singer Femme, Calvin Harris, Beck, Lana Del Rey and Disclosure, while Justin Bieber made a surprise appearance.
