After three decades together, Britpop icon Louise Wener has married her longtime partner and fellow band member Andy Maclure.

Louise, now 60, is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter for Sleeper, a band she formed with Andy, Jon Stewart, and Diid Osman.

The couple’s wedding was joyfully announced on Sleeper’s official Instagram account on Tuesday, following a ceremony held in Brighton.

Photos from the special day reveal Louise’s choice of a stylish animal print dress paired with cream ankle boots, a modern twist on traditional bridal attire.

Andy complemented her look with a classic shirt and suit ensemble, accessorized with New Balance sneakers, adding a casual touch to his outfit.

The gallery of wedding photos poked fun at their three-decade relationship, and was captioned: ’30 years. You don’t want to rush into these things.’

The announcement also featured nostalgic images from their early years together, capturing the essence of their enduring relationship.

Prior to her romance with Andy, Louise was publicly in a relationship with Blur frontman Damon Albarn in the early nineties, before their bands hit peak fame.

The couple were covered in confetti after they left their ceremony, before heading to the iconic beach where they cosied up for their wedding snaps.

The comments section was awash with people congratulating the newlyweds, including a message from English author Miranda Sawyer, who has a book called Uncommon People: Britpop and Beyond in 20 Songs.

She wrote: ‘oh how lovely, CONGRATULATIONS!! xxxx.’

Others wrote: ‘So much joy in this,  to at least another 30’; ‘LOVE this SOOOO much. Love you guys SOOOOO much xx’; ‘This hais was the most gorgeous celebration, with coolest looking bride and groom I’ve ever seen. Love you beauts.’

Sleeper were originally together from 1992 to 1998.

They recorded three albums prior to their split: Smart, The It Girl and Pleased to Meet You.

They reformed in 2017 after almost two decades apart and played a series of shows, they released albums, A Modern Age in 2019 and and This Time Tomorrow, in 2020.

Andy Maclure didn’t rejoin at the time and the band used a different drummer.

Louise now serves as the band’s vocalist and rhythm guitarist.

Appearing on Channel 5 News last year ahead of the 30th anniversary of their debut single, she had appeared to have hardly aged since their 90s heyday.

Sleeper embarked on a greatest hits tour to mark the occasion.

Dan Walker asked Louise what being a frontman during a time of ‘laddish’ Britpop culture was like, and she said: ‘Some people don’t remember it, but I think we were just treated on a different level.

‘So we were objectified. It was lots of sexualisation of it. I just think we were held to a different set to standards, maybe, than some of the guys were.’

Touching on the passing of time, Louise said: ‘It feels like 30 years and yesterday. It just feels like an eternity.

‘But it’s lovely to be out doing it again. It’s been amazing.’
