Michael Madsen, best known for working in the Quentin Tarantino movies Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill has died at the age of 67.

In what is thought to be his last interview prior to his passing, the Donnie Brasco actor engaged in a discussion with Stephen Baldwin on the One Big Movie podcast.

In the candid chat, Madsen spoke highly of Alec Baldwin, while also playfully bashing Johnny Depp as ‘overrated.’  

He complimented Baldwin’s collection of movie posters, recalling how he once had a similar assortment before it was destroyed by the 2018 Woolsey Fire that engulfed his Malibu home.

Baldwin then asked what Madsen has been up to and the Kill Bill star answered rather flippantly and off the cuff.

‘Just trying to stay employed,’ he said with a laugh.

Stephen Baldwin then connected with his elder brother Alec Baldwin, allowing them to reflect on their experiences while shooting the 1994 film The Getaway, which featured Alec’s former wife Kim Basinger.

Alec and Michael then shared several anecdotes from their experience filming The Getway.

They alluded to doing something mysterious in a bathroom that was likely something illegal like drugs.

Alec also shared a funny story about them wanting to ditch filming for a day, so when Madsen’s hotel room phone rang, he answered it.

It was someone asking for Mr. Mason, and Alec put on an hilarious combo of a Latino and Chicago accent and hung up on whomever was looking for Madsen.

‘Goddamnit, Alec, you’re the funniest mother f***er, Madsen said while laughing hard.

In another segment, Madsen recounted hearing Alec tell Basigner not to talk to him while she insisted he was a good guy. 

He said Alec said ‘No you don’t understand, he’s the bad guy in the movie, stop chatting him up, stop talking to Madsen.’

Alec then quipped, ‘Take your hands out of Madsen’s pants.’

After admiring Baldwin’s movie posters and saying he used to have a large collection himself but he lost them when his home burned down in the 2018 Woolsey Fire in Malibu

Baldwin then asked what Madsen has been up to and the Kill Bill star answered rather flippantly and off the cuff

As the interview ended Alec called Madsen, ‘the greatest actor ever,’ which Stephen wholeheartedly agreed with.

Madsen also talked about working with Al Pacino and Johnny Depp in 1997’s Donnie Brasco. 

He had very interesting meeting with Al Pacino who summoned him to New York City to meet with him and asked him if he had any notes on the script.

When he mentioned that his character Sonny had birds in the book, Pacino cut him off and said, ‘I get all of the parts.’

Madsen left soon after and was surprised to find he’s actually booked the movie.

The entire encounter took seven minutes and Madsen wondered if Pacino was in character at the time. 

He also said working with Depp was difficult as he wouldn’t even be in the same room. 

Baldwin asked him whether he ever thought that Depp was terrible at acting when they were doing scenes together.

Madsen replied without hesitation, ‘Yeah. It wasn’t terrible, it was just boring. It was lifeless. There was a lifelessness to it that I couldn’t comprehend. It made no sense to me.’

He recounted a prank he and the other actors playing tough guys locked Depp in his dressing room with a wind-up rat and he thinks that’s why Depp didn’t want much to do with im.
