Island Records has promoted Marshall Nolan to executive VP and head of commercial strategy, the company announced this week. Based in New York, he will report directly to co-chairmen/CEOs Imran Majid and Justin Eshak. He will continue to lead streaming, physical, and D2C strategy for the label.
Since joining UMG in 2022, he has played a key role in the campaigns of breakthroughs Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan and the development of rising stars Gigi Perez, Lola Young, and Charley Crockett, as well as veterans artists Bon Jovi, Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato and the Killers. Prior to UMG, he spent five years at Columbia Records, where he was senior director of the commercial team.

Nolan is also an activist for a cause dear to his heart: He lost his beloved sister-in-law Sam in 2024 to metastatic breast cancer and has dedicated considerable effort to working with the organizations BCRF and the Pink Agenda, hosting multiple benefit evenings and launching his own, RUNFORSAM.

Sony has announced a new collaboration with Post Malone for the brand’s audio campaign, “For The Music.” Starting this month, Malone will work with the brand to help launch of Sony’s new Ult Power Sound series.
“I’ve always wanted the music to feel personal, and this partnership with Sony is a chance to create something that brings people closer to the music in a real way,” said Malone in a statement. “This Ult Power Sound series is insane, everyone should really experience this.”
The initiative is described as a “bridge” between “music lovers and their favorite artists, supporting creators at every stage of their journey,” per a press release. “As one of the most influential and genre-defying artists of his generation, Post Malone embodies the spirit of authenticity, creativity, and connection — values that lie at the core of Sony’s approach to audio innovation.”
As part of the campaign, Post Malone worked alongside Sony’s team to create a series of ads that showcase how Sony’s audio technology transforms the listening experience. The deal was brokered by Marcie Allen on behalf of Sony and CAA’s Cheryl Paglierani on behalf of Post Malone. Sony has previously partnered with Olivia Rodrigo, Peso Pluma, Le Sserafim, Miguel, SZA, Khalid, Tate McRae and more.

+ Tvg is set to open a new venue called Pacific Electric in Los Angeles this fall. The space is nestled in the Naud Warehouse where Mission Junction meets Chinatown.
The 750-capacity Pacific Electric will offer hospitality while blending industrial character with sound and sightlines. Fans and artists alike will enjoy a state-of-the-art audio system for flawless acoustics and dynamic lighting that is meant to enhance performances with immersive visuals, all alongside a bar and beverage program.
With a name that pays homage to the company that operated the infamous Los Angeles “Red Cars,” Pacific Electric will “similarly be a catalyst for connectivity, entertainment and leisure,” per a press release. Thevenue’s programming will be universal, including concerts from all genres, underplays, club nights and more, programmed in partnership with independent promoters. A focus on community engagement, cultural events and local talent and partnerships will be a central tenet of the space, aiming to create a destination that celebrates Los Angeles.

+ Sony Music Publishing Scandinavia has announced the signing of award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matias Téllez to a worldwide publishing agreement.
Téllez is a songwriter and record producer based in Bergen, Norway. He has penned hit songs for top artists including girl in red, with contributions across her debut album “if i could make it go quiet” in 2021. Tellez’s credits also include work across Gracie Abrams’ debut album ”Good Riddance,” and Maisie Peters’ “The Good Witch.”
+ Electric Feel Entertainment announced today the hiring of Chandler Nicole Sherrill as senior director of creative. She will be involved in developing and executing creative strategies.

HYBE America has entered a new distribution partnership with So So Def Recordings, the label founded by Jermaine Dupri. So So Def and HYBE America are expected to begin rolling out new music under the deal in the coming months, including both legacy releases and brand-new signings.
The deal gives So So Def access to HYBE America’s full distribution and marketing infrastructure, allowing the label to reintroduce its catalog and launch new artists. So So Def is responsible for launching and producing such acts as Usher, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Nelly, Bow Wow, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Xscape, and most recently, Muni Long.
The partnership is described as “a deeply personal full-circle moment” for Scooter Braun, CEO of HYBE America, who began his career under Dupri’s mentorship at So So Def.
“Everything I learned about the music business started with Jermaine,” said Braun. “He gave me my first shot when I was just a kid with a dream. I was blessed to witness genius up close — and now, years later, it’s an honor to return to where it all began and stand beside him as a partner.”

+ Sony Music Publishing UK today announced the promotion of Sarah Gabrielli to head of A&R. She will continue to be based out of the company’s London office, reporting to president and co-managing director, SMP UK and Senior VP of International, David Ventura.
In her elevated role, Gabrielli be responsible for leading SMP UK’s A&R team, advancing creative strategy and expanding opportunities for songwriters in the UK and beyond.
Gabrielli said, “I’m incredibly excited to step into the role of Head of A&R. It’s an honour to lead such a talented team and to continue championing the incredible songwriters who make this job so inspiring. + The All Things Go Festival has expanded from a two to three-day event set for Sept. 26 – 28. The 11th edition of the fest will return to Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD, and Forest Hills Stadium in New York. A lineup will be revealed in the coming months.
