Olivia Munn recently put one of her male co-stars on blast for displaying sexist behavior on set.

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the 51-year-old actress from The Predator shared an incident involving an “obnoxious” actor who refused to shoot a scene where her character saves his life.

Munn recounted times she played roles such as a CIA agent or cop, where her character was supposed to save another character. She described a particular scene in a bunker where she and her unnamed co-star were fighting adversaries.

“According to the script, he was watching his area while I was covering mine. Then, we switch positions, and as someone is about to shoot him in the back, my character takes the shot,” she explained.

However, Munn revealed that her co-star hadn’t seemed to read the script, as he protested, saying, “Wait, hold on. She can’t save me. No, no. She can’t save me.”

This disagreement led to a 45-minute halt in filming, as the actor became confrontational with the director, Munn recounted.

‘There was no insecurity about being obnoxious and everyone hearing this and being like, “She can’t save me! We’re not doing this.”‘

Munn then offered her co-star a solution. 

‘I said, “OK, how about instead of my character saving you, it’s just that we switch because it’s time for us to switch, and so this is my guy to get,” and he was like, “OK.”‘

‘Now, here’s the interesting thing. Nothing changed. It’s just what he thought. I was doing the exact same thing,’ she explained.

Munn also said that she’s been picky about her roles in an effort to avoid sexist stereotypes.

‘I’ve looked at so many different scripts and a lot of times the women are portrayed in kind of a naggy way. I had this thing that I decided at one point early in my career, like, I only wanted to do projects where she would exist even if he didn’t exist. You know, that it wasn’t just his story.’

Munn has appeared in a number of action-packed roles. She played CIA operative Gina Cline in the 2017 History Channel action drama Six, alongside Barry Sloane, Kyle Schmid and Juan Pablo Raba.

She also had a guest role as a CIA agent in Chuck on the NBC action/comedy series. 

‘If you read the script, it was that he was guarding his side, I was guarding my side, then we switch sides and then there’s a guy that was coming for him [who] was gonna shoot him in the back, so I shoot him,’ she said

Munn said that apparently ‘he didn’t read the script,’ because he said, ‘Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. She can’t save me. No, no. She can’t save me’

The star said that the incident caused ’45 minutes of just stopping down’ filming, as her co-star became ‘combative with the director’
