Myles Lewis-Skelly’s mum has admitted to missing her son’s goal in Arsenal’s crushing 5-1 win over Manchester City.

Lewis-Skelly continued his impressive rise up the ranks at the Emirates when he was picked to start the game against the champions on Sunday.

The 18-year-old played a starring role in Arsenal’s win, with the full back scoring the host’s third goal of the match.

After putting Arsenal 3-1 up on the night, Lewis-Skelly lowered himself to the floor and performed Haaland’s iconic celebration in a move that has split opinion.

Arsenal went on to seal a comfortable win with Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri adding to their advantage late on.

Speaking on the Sports Agents podcast with Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman, Lewis Skelly’s mum Marcia confessed to missing her son’s first professional goal.

‘Do you know what? I have two things. I’m dyslexic and I have a really, like, short attention span,’ Marcia said.

‘So, it was all going a bit quick. So I was like, ‘Oh, oh, oh.’

‘And sometimes I even struggle to work out when Myles is on the pitch.

When asked by Chapman whether she had caught her son’s goal, she admitted ‘I don’t think so!’

‘He’s got a very similar build to [Jurrien] Timber, so I sometimes get them mixed up.

‘Oh my god, did I really say that.’

Marcia had appeared on the podcast to discuss her business and community platform No1Fan.club.

She launched the platform to help parents negotiate the world of academy and grassroots football.

It provides tools for parents such as workshops, forums and information packages which are utilised both virtually and in-person — and used across the footballing pyramid, including the Premier League.

Lewis-Skelly, who joined Arsenal’s academy at nine, has enjoyed a stunning rise this season and has been tipped for a place in the next England squad.

On his debut in a fiery 2-2 draw with Man City at the Etihad in September, the full back was even asked: ‘Who are you?’ by Haaland.

Fast-forward five months and the left back stunned City with his performance, and even hit Haaland’s iconic celebration to boot.

Another of Haaland’s now-infamous jibes amid the fallout of that clash was to tell Mikel Arteta to ‘Stay humble, eh?’ – something which saw plenty of airtime after the Gunners put their rivals to the sword on Sunday.

In a clip posted on the Dose of Society TikTok channel after Sunday’s game, Marcia was asked what it’s like being the mother to a professional footballer, with fans noting her use of ‘humble’ in her reply.

‘Busy, but still a mother,’ she said. ‘I think if you can get the right people and the right support, like family support, then anything is possible.

‘Gratitude is important, stay humble, stay grounded as a family and keep the right people around you.’

According to Sky Sports, the Premier League are reportedly set to monitor footballers’ celebrations and could potentially punish them if they are considered ‘critical or mocking’.

The move follows criticism from some of Lewis-Skelly appearing to mimick Haaland, as well as other celebrations which have been deemed to have provoked opposition teams’ fans.
