Ruth Jones oozed glamour in a purple sequin gown at the National Television Awards in her first appearance since her marriage split.  

The Gavin and Stacey star, 58, revealed in June that her marriage of 26 years with husband David Peet had come to an end. She stated that they had actually parted ways 18 months ago and are currently ‘legally separated’.

In her first appearance on the red carpet post-separation, Ruth accompanied the Gavin and Stacey cast at the National Television Awards on Wednesday, where the show clinched the Comedy show award.

Ruth looked sensational as she took to the carpet in a dark purple fully-sequined gown, featuring flowing cap sleeves with a feathered trim. 

She paired the glitzy gown with an array of gold accessories, including a sequin clutch bag, dainty hoop earrings and a bracelet. 

Later that evening, Ruth took the stage alongside Rob Brydon, Melanie Walters, Rob Wilfort, Laura Aikman, and Larry Lamb after Gavin and Stacey was selected as Best Comedy through public voting.

Speaking on stage, Larry warmly said: ‘When Ruth and James wrote Gavin & Stacey they created a family that can belong to us forever.’ 

The 77-year-old then passed the gong over to Ruth as he made way for her to speak.

However, embracing her alter ego Nessa, Ruth savagely said: ‘Yeah, all right, calm down. I’m going to the bar now for a pint of wine.’

Ruth’s appearance at the ceremony came after she put her stunning house up for sale following her split from David.

The home she shared with TV executive David, 72, has gone on the market for a tidy £1,150,000.

David has also left his life behind in the UK to relocate to a small village in Canada to be with his new girlfriend. 

And the pair have already gone social media official after she posted a new picture of the pair kissing on Facebook.

MailOnline revealed the TV executive has moved to Port Hardy, located on the northern tip of Vancouver Island in British Columbia.

Residing in a town with a population of just 4,000, David has decided to begin anew with Jayne Charity Cook, a 46-year-old digital creator, despite having three children and multiple businesses back home.

Now, Jayne has shared her first photo of the couple since their relationship became public knowledge, as revealed by MailOnline on Thursday morning, generating a wave of supportive comments from friends.

One wrote: ‘I’m so glad you found someone that makes you absolutely happy, you are glowing so bright.’

She also shared snaps of the couple on her Threads page around the same time, writing ‘spent the weekend with my love and had an amazing time.’

She describes herself as ‘a MommaBear and being a great Friend, Lover, Partner, Daughter, Sister’ and has two adult children – Alexander and Isabella – plus she is a doting grandmother to Alexander’s son and Isabella’s two girls.

She has worked as an Education Assistant at the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw School on the Tsulquate Reserve since 2016.

Meanwhile national treasure Ruth is stepmother to David’s three children from a previous relationship – Fiona, 35, Louise, 33 and Alex, 31 – and is believed to be close to them, taking on the role of grandmother to their children.

The former couple used to split their time between their two properties in Cardiff and the Scottish Highlands, where they own a holiday home.

In recent months, Ruth has made a string of appearances without her wedding ring, including on stage in Bath.

She told her audience that the literary character Linda had recently abandoned a long marriage after realising she had become ‘friends’ with her husband, but triggered a break up after he had an affair with a work colleague.
