Ryan Seacrest has opened up about feeling “depressed” over his single status, nearly a year after his split from model Aubrey Paige.

The pair dated from 2021 until 2024, and since then, Seacrest has reportedly remained single.

The well-known host, now 50, shared his sentiments regarding his romantic life during a May 11 episode of American Idol. This revelation came as he listened to an original song performed by Thunderstorm Artis.

Artis, one of the top five contenders this season vying for the American Idol crown, penned the heartfelt song for his wife.

“Well done,” Seacrest complimented the musician during the show, as reported by Us Weekly.

“It’s a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics. I just printed them out backstage,” Seacrest added. “Your green eyes are soft like the summer, and your touch can extinguish the embers of my burning heart from that gray December.”

Seacrest’s fellow Idol hosts Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan were also big fans of the melody, as they praised Artis for his touching songwriting skills.

The Wheel of Fortune host’s admission about being single comes after he and Paige split amicably last year, and even planned to stay in each other’s lives.

A source said at the time: ‘After three beautiful years together, Ryan and Aubrey have mutually decided to part ways. 

‘They plan to stay in each other’s lives as good friends and support one another’s endeavors.’

The couple celebrated many good times together, including a ton of career milestones.  

On Seacrest’s last day on Live! With Kelly and Ryan in April 2023, Paige posted a sweet note about him moving on from the syndicated talk show on Instagram with three photos.

Two of the snaps were of the couple golfing and the other was of their heads close together with headphones on while onboard what appears to be a helicopter.

‘Ryan, never have I ever met a more inspiring man,’ she wrote. ‘You make it look so easy, but the truth is there is just nobody quite like you. I am so beyond proud of you. Not just for your work ethic, but for your caring heart and the genuine love that you give to others.’

Last year, the dancer revealed during an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast that when she began dating Seacrest, she didn’t want people to feel like she was using his name for fame.

‘The rug was swept up from underneath me, and I was just flying, and I was experiencing things that I didn’t even know existed,’ Hough said during the podcast. per Entertainment Weekly. 

‘But then I had this insecurity that I was like, “I don’t ever want anybody to think that I’m with him for this reason.” And so I then started playing smaller.’

Hough also explained that after they broke up, many people questioned her decision, but there was nothing that could stop her. 

‘I didn’t think about what people thought. I was just wrestling on the inside… I definitely was in full self-preservation mode, so I was only concerned about me,’ she said.
