Scarlett Johansson has relinquished her title as the top-grossing box office star, with a new leader emerging on the cinematic horizon.

Taking the crown is Zoe Saldaña, a familiar face from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where she starred alongside Johansson in blockbusters like “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.”

The 47-year-old Oscar recipient has achieved an impressive global box office total of $15.47 billion, propelled by her dynamic performances in major franchises such as “Avatar,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and “Star Trek,” as reported by The Numbers.

Saldaña, whose full name is Zoë Yadira Saldaña Nazario, recently returned to the screen as Neytiri in James Cameron’s latest installment, “Avatar: Fire and Ash.” This highly anticipated film, with a staggering budget of $400 million, has already garnered $1.23 billion.

With Dominican and Puerto Rican roots, Saldaña continues to shine as a versatile talent. Her forthcoming projects include additional “Avatar” sequels, the third season of the Paramount+ series “Lioness,” the Netflix romantic adventure “Positano,” and Matt Ruskin’s science fiction film “Don’t Forget Me Tomorrow.”

In contrast, Johansson has claimed the second spot on the list, amassing $15.4 billion at the box office. Her recent role as Zora Bennett, a covert operations specialist in Gareth Edwards’ sci-fi movie “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” contributed significantly to her earnings, bringing in $869.1 million.

The two-time Oscar nominee likely slipped due to helming her 2025 feature directorial debut Eleanor the Great about a grieving grandmother, which only earned $3.1 million at the global box office.

Johansson also had a role as Cousin Hilda Sussman-Korda in Wes Anderson’s spy comedy The Phoenician Scheme, which earned a modest $40.2 million last year.

Last month, Deadline reported The Outset co-founder was ‘in final negotiations’ to star in Matt Reeves’ sequel The Batman Part II opposite Robert Pattinson, which might put her back on top.

Johansson’s other upcoming projects include Mike Flanagan’s untitled Exorcist film, Andrea Arnold’s true-crime thriller Featherwood, James Gray’s mafia drama Paper Tiger, and Christopher McQuarrie’s action film The Gauntlet.

The first and eldest man on the list – Samuel L. Jackson – earned the No. 3 spot with $14,613,700,731 thanks to his many superhero franchises including The Avengers, Incredibles 2, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Captain Marvel.
