Barcelona and Real Madrid will reportedly battle to sign the highly rated Feyenoord youngster Santi Gimenez after his incredible start to the season.

The 22-year-old Mexican striker has bagged 13 goals in just ten games in the Eredivisie and recently scored a brace in a 3-1 win over Lazio in the Champions League.

His impressive form has attracted attention from the two Spanish giants and there have even been comparisons with former Ajax forward Luis Suarez.

But, with financial difficulties set to be an issue for Barcelona with the new stadium build and a deal already agreed to sign Athletico Paranaense forward Vitor Roque for an initial fee of €30 million, the transfer could be shelved.

Feyenoord currently sit fourth in the Eredivisie after winning seven out of ten games.

PSV sit first in the table on 30 points ahead of AZ Alkmaar, meanwhile Ajax still remain bottom of the table after a shocking start to the season.

Ajax have won only one game so far this season, but they have only played eight times.

Ajax and Feyenoord recently had their match abandoned in the 56th minute after home fans threw flares and fireworks when Ajax went 3-0 down at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Both sets of players were led off the field by the referee, but police had to take action when furious Ajax fans tried to storm the stadium after the game had been abandoned.
