Tragic new information has come to light concerning the deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.

According to their death certificates, obtained by E! News, the couple has been cremated following their untimely passing.

The beloved director of “The Princess Bride” and his wife, a talented photographer, succumbed to “multiple sharp force injuries” on December 14 at their home in Brentwood, California, as the official documents reveal.

In a heartbreaking twist, it was determined that both Rob and Michele died within minutes of an attack by their son, Nick Reiner. Rob’s time of death was recorded at 3:45 p.m. PT, with Michele’s following just a minute later.

These times mark the moment their daughter, Romy Reiner, made the devastating discovery of their bodies.

In a poignant statement released on December 17 to MS NOW, Romy, alongside her brother Jake Reiner, expressed their profound grief: “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

The siblings went on to share gratitude for the condolences and support they’ve received from loved ones and the public.

“We now ask for respect and privacy,” they added, “for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”

Nick—who has been formally charged with their deaths and is facing two counts of first-degree murder—made a brief court appearance Dec. 17. He did not enter a plea, as his attorney Alan Jackson––who has worked with Harvey Weinstein and Karen Read among others––was granted a continuance, and the arraignment was postponed until Jan. 7.

While speaking with reporters outside the courthouse, the attorney called Rob and Michele’s deaths a “devastating tragedy” and asked that the public not “rush to judgment,” but rather “allow the [justice] system to move forward in the way that it was designed.”

“There are very, very complex and serious issues that are associated with this case,” he said. “They just need to be thoroughly, but very carefully dealt with and examined and looked at and analyzed.”
