In the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe, with over 50 films and TV projects, it’s almost inevitable that every show and movie features an actor who’s been a part of it. However, how often does an MCU actor appear three times on another show — each time in a different role? Such instances are quite rare, but Judy Greer is one of those uncommon cases. In the original “Ant-Man” film from 2015, Greer plays Maggie Lang, the separated wife of Paul Rudd’s character, Scott Lang, the miniature future Avenger. Interestingly, Greer’s connections with several MCU stars are noteworthy, but here we’ll focus on her time on “Two and a Half Men.”
“Two and a Half Men” is the popular sitcom originally starring Charlie Sheen, who was later replaced by Ashton Kutcher following Sheen’s scandal-driven departure. Those who followed the series will remember Judy Greer best for her recurring role as Bridget Schmidt, Ashton Kutcher’s Walden Schmidt’s ex-wife. Her character had a consistent presence in two of the final three seasons and made a comeback for the series finale, the two-part episode “Of Course He’s Dead.” Nevertheless, Greer’s portrayal of Walden’s ex-wife Bridget was just one of three different characters she embodied throughout the series. In fact, Bridget wasn’t the initial or the last role she played in “Two and a Half Men.”
Greer had two other roles in Two and a Half Men
Though Judy Greer’s major role as the ex-wife of a character only introduced much later in the series didn’t begin until Season 9, she had previously portrayed another character earlier in the second season. She took on the part of Myra, who first appears in the episode “Smooth as a Ken Doll.” Myra is Herb Melnick’s (Ryan Stiles) sister; Herb is the second husband of Judith (Marin Hinkle), who happens to be Alan’s (Angus T. Jones) first wife. Quite the tangled web, isn’t it?
Greer reprised her role as Myra in the following episode, “Aunt Myra Doesn’t Pee a Lot,” but Myra didn’t appear after that. Even when Greer later came back in a fresh role as Bridget Schmidt, she wasn’t quite finished with the series. In the Season 9 episode “The Squat and the Hover,” she plays dual roles: Bridget, her regular recurring character, and Danny, who looks identical to Bridget. Danny is part of a lesbian couple with her partner Kiki (Monika Smith), whom Alan and Walden encounter at a bar. In a typical “Two and a Half Men” series of comedic mix-ups, Danny wrongly assumes Alan is gay, while he’s actually attempting to flirt with her. Quite an impressive range for Ant-Man’s former wife.
