Contains spoilers for “Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage” Season 1, Episode 21 — “Big Decisions”

If viewers of “Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage” assumed they would see the last of Christopher Gorham’s character Scott with the end of Season 1 on May 15, they’d be mistaken. Scott is set to return in Season 2. There are currently no clues about his new role in the upcoming season. However, given that Scott will assume the position of Mandy’s (played by Emily Osment) supervisor and used to be her ex-boyfriend, it’s highly possible he could cause tension between the couple. We’re quite apprehensive that Scott’s presence might offer Mandy an escape from her troubled marriage.

Promos for the episode titled “Big Decisions” imply that Mandy might face significant risks by keeping her collaboration with Scott under wraps. As she begins reporting on a significant storm for her new position, she briefly converses with Scott. He mentions hoping that Georgie (portrayed by Montana Jordan) is fine with their collaboration. Mandy, with a chuckle, assures him everything’s fine and that Georgie is comfortable with their teamwork — yet she reveals that Georgie is oblivious to the situation.

This is merely one obstacle confronting the young couple in the Season 1 finale. Meanwhile, Georgie is trying to persuade Jim to retain rather than sell the tire store. Fortunately, some fresh casting announcements imply that Scott won’t be a lasting obstacle for Georgie and Mandy.

Christopher Gorham has been cast on Sheriff Country

While Scott might serve as something of a wedge for Georgie and Mandy in Season 2, it looks like Christopher Gorham won’t have a permanent role on the series — unless he’s okay with juggling two parts at the same time. Gorham has been cast as Sheriff Mickey Fox’s (Morena Baccarin) ex-husband, Travis, on the new “Fire Country” spin-off, “Sheriff Country.”

The part of Travis is a regular role on the drama, and the pair not only share a daughter named Skye, but some residual feelings left over from their marriage. That would seem to put the kibosh on Gorham being a regular face in the lives of Georgie and Mandy, though obviously a few guest appearances remain a possibility.

But viewers shouldn’t breathe a sigh of relief yet. It’s not as if Georgie and Mandy need to look very hard to find trouble. Between Georgie’s possible first step toward becoming a mogul and Mandy’s moves at work — with a man who’s not her husband — plus the money issues that tend to creep into their lives, it looks like they won’t need any help finding marital conflict. Scott’s increased, if still minimal, Season 2 presence definitely won’t help.
