Warning: Spoilers Ahead for “Invincible” Season 4, Episode 4 – “Hurm”

“Invincible,” streaming on Prime Video, is renowned for its impressive lineup of celebrity voices, and the fourth season keeps up this tradition with a notable addition. In the fourth episode, viewers are introduced to Satan, voiced by none other than Bruce Campbell, a name widely recognized across multiple fan communities.

Campbell, celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Ash Williams, the chainsaw-wielding hero battling Deadites in the “Evil Dead” franchise, has long been a staple in horror culture. However, his talents extend beyond just horror. Whether he’s in “Maniac Cop” or “Congo,” Campbell has a knack for leaving a memorable impression, regardless of the size of his role.

Thanks to his work on “Evil Dead,” Campbell has become a frequent collaborator and close friend of director Sam Raimi. Whether making a cameo in something like 2026’s “Send Help” or delivering memorable comedic moments in the “Spider-Man” trilogy and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Campbell has proven to be Raimi’s reliable choice, even if he’s not always the star.

Campbell’s talents also extend into animation, with voice work in series such as “Archer,” “Robot Chicken,” and “Duck Dodgers.” Now, he adds “Invincible” to his impressive list of credits, further showcasing his versatility. Is there anything Campbell can’t do?

The Season 3 finale of “Invincible” left fans with intrigue during its post-credit scene, featuring the demon detective Damien Darkblood, voiced by Clancy Brown, in conversation with a fellow demon. Although this character’s identity is not explicitly confirmed, many speculate it to be Satan, inferred from Darkblood’s manner of address. In the episode’s credits, Bruce Campbell is listed simply as Demon, adding a layer of mystery to his role.

Bruce Campbell as Satan in Invincible was the worst-kept secret

In the post-credit scene of the Season 3 finale of “Invincible,” the demon detective, Damien Darkblood (voiced by Clancy Brown), speaks to one of his brethren. While this creature isn’t named in the episode, many viewers suspect it’s Satan because of the way in which Darkblood speaks to him. In the episode’s credits, Bruce Campbell is credited only as Demon. This is nothing more than a smokescreen.

In an interview with ScreenRant in April 2025, “Invincible” co-showrunner Simon Racioppa remained coy about the true identity of Campbell’s character. “I think you’ll have to wait and see!” Racioppa said. “Bruce is incredible, though. He’s great. You’re going to love it. You’re going to love it, but I can’t tell you that.” Yeah, these comments didn’t exactly throw everyone’s immediate guesses off the trail.

In the fourth episode of “Invincible” Season 4, Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) gets dragged to Hell, discovering that it’s a different kind of place than what humans have been told it is. He also plays a critical role in restoring Satan to his full power. Consequently, it’s revealed that Campbell is indeed voicing Satan. All hail the groovy one!
