Warning: Spoilers Ahead for “Wicked: For Good”

This weekend, “Wicked: For Good” is set to make waves at the box office. Fans of the franchise will be delighted by a nostalgic flashback featuring Glinda, portrayed by Ariana Grande, as she reflects on her childhood self, brought to life by Scarlett Spears. Curious about Spears and her journey in the acting world? Check out the video above, where we dive into the highlights of her blossoming career.

In the flashback, young Galinda Upland dreams of being magical, a desire that persists into her adulthood. On her birthday, she receives a wand, sparking hope that she can finally tap into her powers. Eager to impress her party guests, Galinda attempts a magic trick, but fails to produce any spells. Fortuitously, a rainbow appears outside her window just in time. Seizing the moment, Galinda claims credit for the spectacle, earning applause from her guests. This moment underscores Glinda’s knack for charming those around her, despite her role as The Wizard of Oz’s (Jeff Goldblum) non-magical ambassador. With such deception in play, it’s no surprise that some fans speculate Glinda might be the real antagonist in “The Wizard of Oz.” While Glinda’s charm may be all smoke and mirrors, Scarlett Spears undeniably shines with true star power—a fact well-known to viewers of a popular ABC soap opera.

Scarlett Spears may have a brief resume, but it’s undeniably impressive. Television audiences might recognize her as Donna Corinthos, the daughter of mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) and his former wife Carly Spencer-Corinthos (Laura Wright) on “General Hospital.” Spears has portrayed Donna for three years and continues to appear in the role periodically.

Interestingly, “Wicked: For Good” isn’t Spears’ first rodeo playing a younger version of an established character. She previously stepped into the shoes of young Dora in “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado,” a Paramount+ exclusive film. Additionally, Spears appeared in the Investigation Discovery series “Evil Lives Here: Shadows of Death,” portraying a dramatized version of real-life crime victim Jade. You might also spot her throwing a tantrum in P!nk’s music video for “Never Gonna Not Dance Again.” It’s quite a portfolio for someone who embarked on their acting career in 2022. Scarlett Spears is a soap opera veteran

Scarlett Spears has a short but sweet resume. TV fans will most likely recognize her as Donna Corinthos, daughter of mob don Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) and his ex-wife Carly Spencer-Corinthos (Laura Wright) on “General Hospital.” Spears has been holding down the part of Donna for three years, and continues to play the role on a recurring basis.

Interestingly, “Wicked: For Good” isn’t the first time she’s been called upon to play a younger version of a grown-up character — Spears also played the child version of Dora (Samantha Lorraine) in the Paramount+ exclusive film “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado.” She showed up in the Investigation Discovery docuseries “Evil Lives Here: Shadows of Death,” as a fictionalized version of a real-life crime victim named Jade. You can also spot Spears as a little girl having a tantrum in the P!nk music video “Never Gonna Not Dance Again.” That’s a pretty healthy roll call for someone who’s only been in the acting game since 2022.
