Contains spoilers for “Chicago Fire” Season 13, Episode 21 — “The Bad Guy”

Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) has been so remarkably unlucky in love that her unfortunate romantic decisions could warrant a case study. It’s either karma’s doing or perhaps a grudge from a past life. Her pattern of heartbreak continued when she ended things with her lawyer boyfriend, Flynn (Steven Strait), due to lingering feelings for Sam Carver (Jake Lockett). This marks Flynn’s departure from her life, leaving Violet with yet another broken heart. Moreover, this heartbreak narrative may repeat itself as Lockett will not return for the 14th season of “Chicago Fire.”

Flynn and Violet seemed to click perfectly after her split with Carver—prompted by her belief that her feelings for him weren’t strong enough, a realization she only reached when he relapsed with the encouragement of his new partner, Tori (Holly Hinchliffe). When Flynn recommends her for a position at a local medical school, Violet feels pressured. Their relationship hits the rocks when he admits she isn’t realizing her full potential. In a moment of honesty, Violet admits she loves Carver more than Flynn, continuing her streak of bad luck with her romantic endeavors.

Violet keeps losing boyfriends

Violet’s journey to find true love has been riddled with challenges. Initially, she shared a history with Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende), but their relationship never progressed beyond friendship. Her subsequent relationship with Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas) blossomed into love, but tragically, he died in a building collapse. Violet was still grappling with these lingering emotions when she started dating Carver, leaving their relationship overshadowed by memories of her past with Hawkins.

The worst part of it all, of course, is that heartbreak is definitely on the horizon for Violet again due to Jake Lockett’s impending exit from “Chicago Fire.” Whether they write Carver out alive and well or kill him tragically, that’s bad news for Violet — and makes her 0 for 4 on the dating market. Perhaps there’s a chance she and Flynn can get back together, but until then, Violet’s going to strike out again — and it’s enough to leave fans worried that she always will.
