Victoria Beckham is reportedly grappling with feelings of betrayal after dedicating years to shielding her son Brooklyn from unflattering stories, only to feel that her efforts have been dismissed.
This comes in the wake of a startling statement from Brooklyn, the eldest of the Beckham siblings at 26, where he expressed no desire to mend fences with his family. He accused his parents of being ‘controlling and manipulative,’ revealing that he often felt ‘overwhelming anxiety’ as a result.
Brooklyn went on to criticize what he sees as a priority for his parents, asserting that ‘Brand Beckham comes first,’ and implying that family values are secondary to public image.
For years, Victoria, now 51, has been committed to safeguarding Brooklyn from stories that might not always cast him in the most favorable light.
According to sources, the renowned fashion designer typically seeks to avoid family disputes. However, she feels that Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, who is 30, have been acting unreasonably.
“Victoria feels betrayed,” the source shared, “because she’s done everything she can to make both of them feel welcome, treating Nicola like another daughter.”
Victoria Beckham is said to be ‘feeling betrayed’ after her years spent protecting Brooklyn from ‘dark stories’ was ‘thrown back in her face’
In a bombshell statement this week, where he said he has no wishes to reconcile with his family, the oldest Beckham sibling, 26, called his parents ‘controlling’ (pictured in 2023)
The source added to The Mirror: ‘But she feels it’s been thrown back in her face. She would normally do anything to avoid a family fallout, but she thinks they’re both being unreasonable.’
Daily Mail has contacted the Beckhams representative for comment.
The Daily Mail’s Katie Hind previously explained how the Beckhams’ camp ‘leapt into overdrive in Brooklyn’s defence’ when stories such as kiss and tells and tales of him being ‘involved him with the wrong crowd’ surfaced.
His parents have often instructed expensive lawyers to protect him against such stories.
David and Victoria would ‘take back Brooklyn back in a minute’ and are said to be ‘horrified’ by events this week, according to another source.
The eldest son of the Beckham clan went nuclear on their long-running feud on Monday by posting a scathing six-page statement to his Instagram and accused his parents of intentionally trying to ruin his relationship to wife Nicola.
Now, a new source reportedly close to the famous couple has said they would welcome their son back into the fold ‘anytime he wants to reunite with them’ – as they are ‘afraid’ of losing him forever.
The insider said: ‘They are afraid of losing their son and would take him back in a minute. They are a close family, too. Just in a different way than Nicola’s family is.’

The source continued to tell PEOPLE: ‘They love Brooklyn and are horrified about everything.’
Meanwhile, a second source added to the publication: ‘David and Victoria believe time will heal this.
‘They know over time that Brooklyn will come back. They can’t really do anything until then.’
In his scathing post, Brooklyn had accused Victoria of ‘dancing inappropriately’ on him during his 2022 nuptials to Nicola.
Their wedding DJ Fat Tony finally recounted the exact detail of the dance during an appearance on This Morning.
The 60-year-old branded the incident ‘really awkward’ and confirmed that Nicola fled the reception in tears.
Tony, a longtime friend of the Beckhams, claimed that Marc Anthony was to blame, revealing the musician had called Victoria to the dance floor with her son and instructed him, ‘place your hands on your mother’s hips’.
He said: ‘There was no slut-dropping, there was no PVC cat suits, no Spice Girl action!
‘The word “inappropriate”, why I said it was as well, it was the timing, this is what happened.’
Tony continued: ‘What happened was, basically, Marc Anthony was performing on stage, he then called Brooklyn onto stage.
‘Brooklyn went on to the stage, and the next minute everyone’s expecting Nicola to go up and do the first dance, and then Marc asked for the most beautiful woman in the room to come to the stage – and then he says “Victoria, come to the stage”.’
He revealed that Brooklyn looked ‘devastated’ at the fact his first dance was with Victoria and not his wife, adding that Nicola left the room ‘crying her eyes out’.
It comes as their wedding DJ Fat Tony finally recounted the exact detail of the dance during an appearance on This Morning after Brooklyn had accused Victoria of ‘dancing inappropriately’
Tony went on: ‘Brooklyn is stuck there on stage, and they do this dance, and Marc Anthony says “put your hands on your mother’s hips” and it was a Latin thing, and the whole situation was really awkward for everyone in the room…
‘I’ve done an awful lot of Beckham parties in the past, and they are a very dancing close-knit family and love to dance, right? So you know, what we deem as “inappropriate” is not how Brooklyn feels.
‘This is all about how Brooklyn feels. If he feels that it was inappropriate and awkward, it was inappropriate and awkward.
‘What’s sad is that this is the bit that everyone’s taken from the statement, and kind of whitewashed everything else that went on.’
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, the DJ said at one point Brooklyn’s hands were on his mother’s waist while her arms were placed around his neck.
‘The timing was inappropriate for me. It was meant to be a bride and groom’s moment,’ he told us.
‘I’m not speaking bad about either party in it, I’m just putting the narrative straight about the dance.’
