Barcelona suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Villarreal after a dramatic twist of clash at the Camp Nou.

Despite a remarkable second-half comeback that saw Barca take the lead, the Catalans were unable to hold on, eventually losing 5-3 in the thrilling encounter.

Villarreal took an early lead through goals from Gerard Moreno and Ilias Akhomach, putting Barcelona on the back foot.

However, a spirited fightback from the home side saw them level the score with goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Pedri, and an own goal by Eric Bailly.

Just when it seemed Barcelona had secured a remarkable comeback, Villarreal struck back with a late goals.

Goncalo Guedes scored to put Villarreal back in front, followed by quickfire strikes from Alexander Sørloth and José Luis Morales in stoppage time.
