CYPRESS, Texas (KNWA/KFTA) Fresh off announcing renovations of more than 650 stores across the country in the coming years, Walmart has opened its first “Store of the Future” in Texas.

Walmart said in a recent news release that its new location in Cypress, Texas, is the company’s first ground-up Supercenter to open in four years.

The company shared several photos from inside the new store, which you can view in the gallery below.

The Arkansas-based retailer said the Cypress location is part of the company’s plan to build or convert more than 150 stores over the next several years.

In the new store, customers will see QR codes “that unlock digital tools, resources and instant access to an expanded assortment,” Walmart said.

Highlights of the new store include:

  • A full-service fuel station with eight pumps serving up to 16 vehicles.
  • A pharmacy with a health services room and drive-thru.
  • A refreshed vision center offering expanded services.
  • Elevated departments in fashion, baby, home and pets.
  • Regional and popular favorites such as a Hispanic bakery section, fresh tortilla maker, sushi station and Dunkin’.
  • Customer-centric amenities include a mother’s room and an auto care center.
  • Ability for customers to use the Walmart App to engage with the store, including scheduling TV mounting, enhancing registries or booking tire installation.
  • In-class pickup and delivery options including Curbside Pickup, Fast Delivery (within 3 hours), Express Delivery (as soon as 30 minutes) and InHome.
  • Store-wide digital shelf labels and updated Walmart branding.

Walmart said in addition to its new location in Cypress, new Supercenters are set to open in Frisco and Melissa, Texas; Eagle Mountain, Utah; and Eastvale, California, later this year.

In Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Milton and Pace, Florida, Neighborhood Markets will debut. Meanwhile, stores in Mountain View, California, and East Windsor, New Jersey, will be converted into Walmart Supercenters.

Neighborhood Markets will debut in Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Milton, Fla.; and Pace, Fla., while stores in Mountain View, Calif.; and East Windsor, N.J., will be converted into full Supercenters.
