In Sirens, Julianne Moore takes on the role of the enigmatic Michaela Kell, a high society figure known for ensnaring others in her captivating allure. It’s fitting that such an influential character would reside in an enchanting location like Cliff House.

The Kell estate essentially serves as its own character in the fresh dark comedy series Sirens, which debuted on Netflix earlier this week. The story kicks off with Devon DeWitt (played by Meghann Fahy) departing her hometown of Buffalo, New York, and heading to Port Haven, New York. There, her sister Simone DeWitt (played by Milly Alcock) is employed as Michaela’s live-in personal assistant on the estate. The first episode portrays Devon’s journey as she travels via bus, boat, and on foot, determined to confront Simone and persuade her to return home.

However, Devon quickly discovers that Simone’s life in Port Haven is much better than she expected. Simone seems perfectly content catering to Michaela’s every whim and has no issues with sleeping mere feet from her employer or occasionally sharing a bed. The series makes it clear that separating Simone from Michaela—and the idyllic summer she has enjoyed in Port Haven—will be a much more challenging task than Devon initially thought.

But where does the Sirens TV show take place? Here is everything we know.

Where is Sirens set?

While you may be asking yourself, “Where is Port Haven?” The answer is more complicated than you think.

Sirens is set in the fictional town of Port Haven, where everyone seems to know the Kells and their infamous Cliff House. The waterfront town looks like your typical beach getaway that is just a stone’s throw from New York City. But the team behind Sirens went to many lengths and filming locations to create the dreamy beach town of Port Haven.

Where is the show Sirens filmed?

According to Netflix’s Tudum, the show filmed in a couple of locations across New York state.

Scenes in the exteriors and grounds of the Cliff House were filmed at the Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve in Lloyd Harbor, New York, a small village in Long Island. According to Realtor.com, the park’s headquarters was given a makeover using CGI to give it a more modern look and a pool. Lloyd Harbor is also where much of the scenes in town were filmed.

And, though we would all love to see Michaela Kell give an Architectural Digest-style tour of the Cliff House, the interiors of the house were actually built on a sound stage at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, New York.

Sirens star Felix Solis, who plays Jose, shared that even he was wowed by the set design.

“You show up on set and you see this home, and I literally went, ‘Do you think someone actually, humanly, in real life, lives in places like this?’” he said. He revealed he was told the interiors were based on “an actual person’s home.”

The show also filmed in Buffalo to capture the true essence of the DeWitt sisters’ hometown.

“I was so excited that we were able to shoot just a little bit of Buffalo so that everyone understands where Devon is coming from,” creator Molly Smith Metzler tells Tudum. “We have to enter it from her point of view. And her point of view is so very different from the colors, the music, the culture, the rules, the politeness [of Cliff House]. That contrast actually is sort of the engine of the whole show.”

Sirens is streaming now on Netflix.
