Knicks’ Josh Hart dealing with nerve issue in shooting hand

New York Knicks guard Josh Hart has revealed he’s battling a nerve issue in his shooting hand. This confirmation follows the Knicks’ recent 128-116 victory over the Chicago Bulls.

“My nerve hasn’t completely healed, so there’s still some tingling and numbness in part of my hand,” Hart stated after the game. “I’m hopeful that eventually, the nerve will fully recover.”

Hart has been wearing a splint on his right hand’s ring finger since undergoing offseason surgery. His injury resurfaced prior to the season, but the determined guard has decided to continue playing despite the discomfort.

Remarkably, Hart’s disclosure about his nerve condition came after he delivered his strongest performance of the season so far, contributing 14 points with 5-of-10 shooting accuracy and securing nine rebounds.

The veteran guard re-aggregated that injury before the season but has committed to playing through it.

Sunday’s confirmation of the nerve issue followed Hart’s best performance of the young season, as he scored 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting with nine rebounds.

Hart, who missed the season opener with lumbar spasms, entered Sunday averaging just 2.8 points per game on 21.1% shooting through his first four appearances.

“He had 14 and nine tonight, so if he was healthy, oh my gosh, look out,” remarked head coach Mike Brown, who said he was unaware of Hart’s nerve issue. “He’s playing fine. He’s missed a lot of time, so he’s playing catch-up, and he’s doing a heck of a job playing catch-up for us.”

Hart shot 1-of-4 on 3-pointers in Sunday’s win but was 3-of-3 on free throws. He added three assists in his 26 minutes off the bench.

“We saw Josh Hart,” said Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson. “The one we know and love.”
