The highly anticipated return of The Gilded Age Season 3 is almost here, bringing back the beloved characters of the Russells, Van Rhijns, Scotts, and their devoted servants on HBO and MAX!
Created by the mind behind Downton Abbey, Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age captures the minor disputes and significant industrial changes that shaped the lives of the ultra-wealthy in 1880s New York. Carrie Coon and Morgan Russell portray George and Bertha Russell, a power couple whose love is equaled by their relentless ambition for more. The Russells reside across from the storied New York society matriarch, Agnes Van Rhijn (Christine Baranski), her widowed sister Ada (Cynthia Nixon), their charming niece Marian (Louisa Jacobson), and Agnes’s astute secretary Peggy Scott (Denée Benton).
In Season 1 of The Gilded Age, viewers saw Bertha Russell’s climb to secure her deserved status in New York’s elite circle. Season 2 showcased her rise to prominence as the city’s leading woman after her successful campaign to establish the Metropolitan Opera House. Now, in Season 3, Bertha is focused on arranging a marriage between her daughter Gladys (Taissa Farmiga) and the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb).
So what’s next for these fabulously catty and fabulously wealthy characters? Will Bertha once again prevail? Will Marian find a happily ever after with new beau Larry (Harry Richardson)? Will plucky footman Jack (Ben Ahlers) sell his alarm clock?!? Here’s everything you need to know about when new episodes of The Gilded Age come out…

The Gilded Age Season 2 Recap:
The Gilded Age Season 2 dealt with the Opera Wars, a real historic event where members of New York society who were deemed “New Money” created the Metropolitan Opera House when they were denied boxes in the cramped Academy of Music. The season ends with Bertha triumphantly opening the Met with the Duke of Buckingham as her guest. Her next goal is obviously to match him with Gladys.
Elsewhere, Oscar Van Rhijn (Blake Ritson) discovers that Maude Beaton (Nicole Brydon Bloom) was a con artist and all of the money he invested on her tips is gone. Agnes is ruined, but the family is saved when it’s revealed that Ada’s deceased husband Luke (Robert Sean Leonard) was secretly wealthy.
Peggy decides to leave her post at T. Thomas Fortune’s (Sullivan Jones) newspaper because he’s married and plans to write a novel. Meanwhile Marian and Larry discover they are in love and kiss. Oh, and Jack is going to partner with Larry to sell his alarm clock patent.
