Erik ten Hag cut a forlorn figure on Saturday after his Manchester United team had lost for the 13th time this season — and urged his players to stick together for the battles that lie ahead.

Defeat at West Ham means the under-fire Dutchman has overseen the club’s worst start since 1930.

‘We have players who can do it,’ he said, after goals by Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus secured victory for the Hammers to lift them above United in the Premier League table.

Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring, with Mohammed Kudus doubling their lead in the second-half

‘They have to stick together and believe in themselves. We have issues. We have had many setbacks and injuries, etc. 

‘But the players on the pitch are good enough to win the game.’
