A man faces two murder charges following the tragic discovery of his wife and daughter dead in their Queensland home last week, shortly after he was involved in a nearby car accident.
Kate Paterson, aged 38, and her one-year-old daughter, April, were found with fatal stab wounds in their Bannockburn residence on March 12. This discovery came shortly after 38-year-old Blake Seers, the husband and father, was hit by a car just a short distance away.
Police officers, initially responding to the incident involving Seers, visited the home to inform his family, only to uncover the bodies of the mother and daughter. Detective Superintendent Chris Ahearn confirmed that the victims had “injuries consistent with an edged weapon.”
Seers was taken to the hospital in serious condition following the accident.
The 38-year-old has now been formally charged with two counts of murder, which include domestic violence against a child.
Seers remains under medical care in the hospital and is scheduled to make a court appearance in Brisbane via video link tomorrow.
