SSU names new assistant VP for government and community relations

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Savannah State University (SSU) has named LeAndrea Mikell as assistant vice president for government and community relations.

An alumna of SSU, Mikell brings a wealth of experience in government relations, strategic communications, community engagement, economic development, and higher education.

“Ms. Mikell has played a crucial role in raising the profile and impact of Savannah State University,” stated President Dr. Jermaine Whirl. “Her leadership, strategic vision, and steadfast commitment to our mission have rendered her an indispensable part of our team. I have no doubt that in her new position, LeAndrea will continue to promote collaboration, achieve meaningful outcomes, and help steer SSU toward a more prosperous future.”

“I am thankful for the chance to serve my alma mater in this role,” Mikell expressed. “Savannah State has a rich tradition of cultivating leaders and making an impact in this community and beyond. I am eager to continue collaborating with the campus community to strengthen our partnerships, broaden our scope, and share our narrative for the generations to come.”
