Czech Republic v England - UEFA Euro 2020: Group D

Bukayo Saka is expected to be fit for England’s Euro 2020 semi-final against Denmark on Wednesday after he missed the victory over Ukraine on Saturday with a minor injury.

The Arsenal star impressed when he started the wins over Czech Republic and Germany but had to sit out the quarter-final in Rome after a knock in training.

England boss Gareth Southgate says the teenager was actually available to play against Ukraine, but with so many options available on the wing, there was no need to risk him and Jadon Sancho was given the chance from the start.

Saka should certainly be back in time for the Danes at Wembley, though, although we are yet to find out whether he will be back in the starting XI or not.

‘He should be fine,’ Southgate said of the 19-year-old.

‘He did declare himself available for the [Ukraine] game but we had not really had the chance to see him on the pitch and working at the level we felt would vindicate that decision.

‘He will go back into full training with the group on Monday and he should be fine.’

Southgate has an array of attacking talent at his disposal, with not only Saka hoping to return to the starting XI, but the likes of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish hoping to get back into the side.

Speaking before the 4-0 win over Ukraine, Southgate said: ‘I’ve said all along it’s impossible to keep everyone happy, to pick a team everybody will agree with. But we’ve got to pick the right players for the right moments, to sense what will cause the opposition the most problems, physically where all the players are at, when is the best time for them to have an impact.

‘They’ve all been unbelievably respectful of their team-mates and the fact we have got this strength in depth.

‘Raheem (Sterling) has been on fire. His goals have made it more difficult for some others to get in on that left side.’
