Emma Hayes is set to make her debut as head coach of the United States women’s team in June during a pair of friendlies against South Korea.

On Tuesday the USA announced a match on June 1 at Dick’s Sporting Good Park in Commerce City, Colorado, and another match on June 4 at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The two matches will be the first set of games the team will play under Hayes, who was named head coach of the United States last November.

The United States will play two additional matches on home soil before heading to this summer’s Olympics in France. Those games have not yet been announced.

South Korea did not qualify for the Paris Games but has played in the Women’s World Cup four times, including last summer’s tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

The USA recently defeated Columbia 3-0 to advance to the semifinals of the CONCACAF W Gold Cup.

All three goals came in the first half, beginning with a penalty from captain Lindsey Horan – followed up less than ten minutes later by a blast from defender Jenna Nighswonger.

A goal in added time from Jaedyn Shaw saw the Americans take a 3-0 lead in the first half that they wouldn’t give up.

Colombia managed just three shots on target, making it relatively easy work for Alyssa Naeher – who kept a clean sheet in her 100th cap for the USWNT.
