Megyn Kelly has expressed her dismay over remarks made by Ben Shapiro at the recent AmericaFest conference hosted by Turning Point, stating she felt “betrayed” by his words.

During the event, Shapiro, 41, criticized Kelly for not denouncing Candace Owens, who has been stirring controversy with her claims regarding Israel’s alleged involvement in Charlie Kirk’s death.

Shapiro further cautioned that the conservative movement faces a “serious danger” because of “grifters” and those he described as conservative “charlatans,” who profess to uphold principles while actually engaging in conspiracies and deceit.

He specifically mentioned, “This applies to Megyn Kelly, someone I regard as a friend.”

These remarks were among several assertive statements at the Phoenix conference last week, which underscored a growing division within the conservative ranks.

“I was flabbergasted,” Kelly revealed to Vanity Fair, reacting to Shapiro’s comments.

‘I thought, ‘Who do you think you are?”

Kelly went on to accuse Shapiro and new CBS Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss of unwittingly fueling a recent rise of antisemitism by attempting to clamp-down on it.

Kelly said the remarks about her were unexpected ‘felt like a betrayal by a friend.’ She went on to say Shapiro’s behavior only fuels rates of antisemitism

‘They are making antisemites… Tucker [Carlson] is not making antisemites. They are,’ she said of Shapiro and new CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss.

Weiss is a staunch Israel supporter who took to X after Shapiro’s speech to shower him with praise.

‘What Charlie and I saw at the same time was that the country is turning,’ Kelly said.

‘And young Republicans are turning on Israel.’

She added: ‘Ben is Israel first… his behavior has proven that charge to be correct.

‘Why would you divide the American conservative movement – which was gelling, which was becoming much more cohesive for a moment after Charlie died – over Israel!’

Of Weiss and Shapiro, Kelly declared, ‘They are making antisemites. Tucker is not making antisemites. They are.’

She compared Shapiro’s calls for conservatives to condemn Owensto the virtue signaling seen by the left.

'I don’t think we are friends anymore,' Kelly said on Friday. The two have been friends since Kelly's time with Fox. They are seen together on the set of Kelly's SiriusXM show

'I’ve been a very good friend to Ben,' Kelly said. 'Nobody knew who the heck Ben Shapiro was when I started putting him on my shows on the Fox News Channel, and I helped make him a star.'

‘I never posted the black square and I never raised my fist at a restaurant,” Kelly said, making a reference to shows of solidarity seen during the Black Lives Matter protests that took place after the murder of George Floyd in 2020.

‘And I’m certainly not going to condemn the people Ben Shapiro demands I condemn in order to be in his imaginary club.

‘”Denounce, denounce, condemn, disassociate.” F*ck you!’ Kelly concluded, after tearing into Shapiro on-stage at day two of Turning Point’s AmericaFest on Friday.

‘I found it kind of funny that Ben thinks he has the power to decide who gets excommunicated from the conservative movement, which shows a willful blindness about his position in it,’ Kelly said.

Kelly also to Shapiro’s remarks in an X post shortly before she took the stage, saying: ‘Only cowards take to the national stage or X to attack their “friends” without so much as a phone call to discuss it.’

‘I don’t think we are friends anymore,’ Kelly added. ‘I’ve been a very good friend to Ben. Nobody knew who the heck Ben Shapiro was when I started putting him on my shows on the Fox News Channel.

Shapiro appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show over the summer.

The Daily Mail has reached out to him for comment.
