Chaos ensued on the Real Housewives of Sydney set when Caroline Gaultier shockingly hurled a stiletto at a producer during the intense filming of the season three finale.
Daily Mail Australia can reveal the 53-year-old model had been on uneven footing with show’s producers well before she ‘hurled’ a shoe at them.
Insiders connected with the show suggest Caroline was ‘livid’ upon discovering she had been suddenly cut from the season’s girls trip to New Zealand.
An insider shares, ‘There were discussions about Caroline specifically being prohibited from joining the trip due to her volatile nature and unpredictability.’
‘I’m not sure of the exact details behind that, but there were some things that definitely happened between Binge and Caroline,’ the source spills.
‘Everything was booked. Her packs were packed. Then her make up got cancelled by production and she never turned up.’
It wasn’t until Krissy Marsh, Victoria Montano, Martine Chippendale, Kate Adams, and Sally Obermeder arrived in Queenstown to film their ‘girls trip’ episodes that they learned Nicole Gazal and Caroline would not be joining them.
Caroline’s absence was explained away as the star being busy with renovations on her house – but it was actually a producer enforced time out.
Producers had hoped the time away would cool tensions between Caroline and other cast members. But when she returned to film her next scenes two weeks later, she seemed hellbent on making war, not peace.
‘I’m not kadoodling to the nonsense,’ she declared to Krissy in a one-on-one meeting, before verbally brawling with Terry at a luxurious restaurant.
The cast were very much divided when the explosive reunion episode was filmed last November, with Terry, Kate, Martine, Nicole, and Sally on one side of things, and Krissy, Victoria, and Caroline on the other.
Daily Mail Australia understands that is more or less where things currently stand in terms of housewife alliances, although Martine and Victoria are no longer friends.
‘Caroline not going on the New Zealand trip probably had a ripple effect on the rest of the season,’ the source continued.
‘There was a lot going on behind the scenes. If they ever did another season they would have to rethink some of the cast,’ the insider said.
‘Some of the things Caroline did throughout the season made her very volatile and filming did not feel like a very safe place to work.’
The revelation comes after reports filming had to be ceased following a physical altercation between cast members.
Following the incident, some of the women declined to return for the next scheduled filming date, forcing producers to patch together the series using the footage they had already captured.
Daily Mail Australia first reported Caroline’s stiletto-throwing finale at the reunion, which will air on May 6, after several cast members came forward under the condition of anonymity.
The mic drop moment unfolded during a behind-the-scenes interview segment, where cast members share their unfiltered thoughts.
Caroline reportedly lost her temper after being cornered with probing questions she ‘couldn’t answer’ and found herself backed into a corner.
‘She did not handle that reunion well, not at all,’ an insider claimed.
‘The producers were asking her some hard-hitting questions and she was visibly rattled. She felt like she was being backed into a corner and instead of owning up to things she just… snapped.
‘Next thing you know, she kicked off one of her shoes and hurled it at the producer.’
According to one witness, the black platform stiletto was ‘ugly’ and compared the footwear to ‘stripper shoes’.
But the real drama wasn’t in the shoe’s appearance—it was the sheer unpredictability of Caroline’s behaviour.
‘She was furious at the end of the reunion,’ another source claimed.
‘She stormed off set, clearly livid and muttering under her breath. No one wanted to get in her way. Most of us were just relieved it didn’t escalate into anything worse.’
The producer, while shaken, reportedly dodged the flying stiletto and continued their work professionally, but the shocking outburst left a sour taste for many on set.
Caroline has been at the centre of many feuds, with cast members Terry and Kate refusing to be in the same room with her unless cameras were rolling.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Saturday, Kate said ‘she really had fun’ filming the third season of the show, and largely thanks to the addition of Martine to the group and Caroline’s no-show in New Zealand.
‘Last year, my whole time filming I was in so much conflict, I was disappointed that’s all I really got to show of me,’ Kate said.
‘There was this sense coming into season three that it’s going to be Terry and Kate vs. the world, and the universe really delivered for me with Martine.
‘When Caroline didn’t come to New Zealand, I got this opportunity to relax and be myself, and get to know some of the women on a deeper level.’
