Home and Away star Tammin Sursok buys bulletproof backpacks for her daughters after Nashville shooting: ‘This is not okay’
Tammin Sursok has purchased bulletproof backpacks for her two daughters following the recent Nashville school shooting.
The actress, 39, shared a photo to Instagram on Wednesday of the purple and white ‘Atomic Defense’ backpacks she bought and captioned it with some sobering words.
‘Bought two. This is not okay. If the US government was serious about protecting kids then every school should have guards and bulletproof glass,’ she wrote.
She added her daughter Phoenix’s school went into lockdown during the Covenant School shooting on Monday and said the experience was heart-wrenching.
‘Today I got a call I never thought would happen but at the same time expected because I live in the USA. My daughter’s school was on lockdown. A parent’s worst nightmare,’ she wrote.

The Home And Away star shared an Instagram video of herself crying as she paced in her kitchen, telling fans: ‘There’s been an active shooter in one of the schools in Nashville… Right next to my daughter’s school. She’s in lockdown, she’s fine.’
She described the ordeal as hitting ‘too close to home’ for many parents in America, where school shootings are a frequent occurrence.
‘I know a lot of other mothers are completely hysterical and shaking right now, because I can’t believe this keeps happening. And you always think it’s not going to happen to you,’ she wept.

‘Our community in Nashville is in shock. My thoughts and prayers are with the families going though this unimaginable tragedy,’ she said.
