The question of whether it’s too early to talk about wine might linger in your mind. But if you’re seeking a little inspiration to push you through the day, this could be just what you need.

For those who have ever felt a twinge of guilt over the calorie count in a glass of wine, research from the University of Alberta in Canada might just ease your conscience.

According to their findings, a glass of red wine can equate to an hour of gym time, which is certainly delightful news for many.

Jason Dyck, who led the research at the university, discovered that resveratrol—a compound in red wine—can deliver health benefits akin to those gained from exercising. Resveratrol is effective because it helps prevent fat cells from accumulating more fat.

This encouraging revelation is further supported by scientists at Washington State University and Harvard, who claim that your nightly glass (or two) of wine can actually contribute to weight loss.

This positive news is supported by scientists from Washington State University and Harvard, who have found that your evening glass of wine (or two) can actually aid with weight loss.

According to the studies, you can help prevent weight gain by 70 per cent from drinking at least two glasses of wine daily, and red wine is the optimal choice because of the resveratrol.

However, for optimal results it must be in the evening – this regrettably doesn’t apply to a lunchtime glass.

Apparently the calories from the wine will help suppress late night snack cravings – a significant cause of weight gain.

Not entirely convinced? The University of Denmark also discovered that people who have a daily drink possess slimmer waistlines than those who abstain.
