IT is easy to fall into the trap of snacking during long days at work.

And that was the case for Scots sports presenter Jill Douglas, who has now revealed she decided to lose weight after being tempted by the endless treats in the green rooms at TV stations.

She said her recent incredible weight loss had come after cutting out feasting on the ‘off-the-scale snacks’ that broadcasters lay on during long days of filming.

Ms Douglas, originally from Bonchester Bridge, Roxburghshire, said that while preparing for last year’s Rugby World Cup, she was unhappy with what was laid on in the green room and embarked on a health drive.

The 54-year-old, who appears on ITV, BBC and TNT Sports, said going through the perimenopause made it difficult for her to lose weight.

She told the Mid Point podcast: ‘I’ve never carried a lot of weight but I was definitely heavier than I was comfortable [with].

‘I think going through perimenopause, you put on weight and it’s much more difficult to lose the weight when you get to an age.

‘I stopped drinking a lot of wine, tried to cut back on food and took more exercise.’

Ms Douglas said she now has more energy and ‘more confidence in myself’ – and blamed long days filming snooker for her previous unhealthy habits.

‘If you looked at the green room at the snooker where we’re doing maybe 12 hours with a couple of breaks, the snacks are off the scale – Haribos, chocolate, crisps, you name it’ she said.
