JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The annual Johnson City Christmas Parade will return on Dec. 6.

Hosted by the Blue Plum Organization, the theme for this year’s parade is “Mountain Rails and Christmas Tales.”

“The Christmas parade is among our community’s most joyous traditions, and we’re excited to see neighbors, families, and friends unite to celebrate the season,” stated Jennifer Clements, parade committee chair for the Blue Plum Organization, in a news release. “It’s an opportunity to share the holiday magic, showcase our community spirit, and create memories that will last well beyond the parade.”

Float registration begins on Oct. 1 and ends on Nov. 24. Participants are encouraged to embody the spirit of a storybook-style train in Appalachia, as mentioned by Blue Plum in the release.

The parade will kick off at 10:30 a.m. on East Tennessee State University’s campus.

The parade route will proceed along University Parkway, West State of Franklin, Buffalo Street, East Main Street, Colonial Way, and conclude in the Old Burley Lot at the corner of Legion Street and East State of Franklin.

The parade will be broadcast and streamed on WJHL.com and WJHL+.
