Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger hit by Ozempic slur... as string of A-listers suffer unsightly side effect

An ecstatic Nicole Scherzinger accepted her first ever Broadway honor at the star-studded 78th Annual Tony Awards, held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday.

The former frontwoman of The Pussycat Dolls, 46, won Best Leading Actress in a Musical, for her performance of fading Hollywood star Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard.

While many were left in awe of her accolade and singing performance that followed, some eagle-eyed fans noted that she appeared considerably slimmer and even gaunt – wondering if she was suffering from so-called ‘Ozempic face’.

The term refers to the emergence of a hollow facial appearance, and in some cases lines, wrinkles, sagging skin and sunken eyes due to drastic and sudden weight change.

New York-based cosmetic dermatologist Dr Michele Green told the Daily Mail that it looks as if the singer ‘might have used a weight-loss drug like Ozempic, as her weight loss is evident in the hollowing of her cheeks’.

Dr Green also suspects Scherzinger could, in turn, have restorted to some injectables to restore any lost volume.

Certianly, she would not be alone. In 2024, more than 5 million Americans are estimated to have had dermal fillers injected into their faces, with plumped lips and sculpted cheeks topping the wish list.

Meanwhile, approximately 12% of US adults, or roughly 15.5 million people, have used a GLP-1 medication, such as Ozempic or Wegovy, for weight loss or diabetes treatment.

Dr Green says the appearance of an aged mouth is especially apparent on people who have rapidly lost weight from higher doses of GLP-1 drugs.

‘Ozempic mouth’ is characterized by deep folds at the corners of the smile, increased vertical wrinkles on the lips themselves, sagging skin around the borders of the lips and drooping skin around the chin.

Dr Green has noticed a number of celebrities suffering from ‘Ozempic mouth’ as the result of taking weight loss drugs, with some of her standout examples being Sharon Osbourne, Sharon Osbourne and Whoopi Goldberg.

Touching on the cosmetic ‘tweakments’ that Scherzinger might have had done to rectify the signs of ‘Ozempic face’, Dr Green reveals: ‘Nicole may have received dermal fillers, such as Juvederm, Voluma or Sculptra to enhance her beautiful, elevated cheekbones.’

‘Since there are no fine lines or wrinkles on her upper face, she could have had Botox injections in her forehead, between her eyebrows, and around her eyes,’ Dr Green added.

‘Due to her smooth, radiant complexion, she likely underwent microneedling or laser resurfacing procedures to diminish signs of aging and achieve a more even skin texture and tone.’

Finally, Dr Green thinks Nicole might have invested in a skin tightening treatment, such as Thermage, which uses heat and radiofrequency energy to tighten skin and improve its appearance.

The 30-minute procedure works by stimulating collagen production, which helps to reduce wrinkles, improve skin laxity, and create a more youthful look.

Dr Green adds: ‘As the body’s collagen levels increase, the skin becomes firmer and tighter.

‘However, it takes four to six months to see results from Thermage, after which the results can last for approximately one and a half years.

‘Patients on Ozempic should ideally undergo a Thermage procedure early in treatment or before treatment begins to prevent the development of loose, sagging skin on the face.’

While some suspect Nicole could be exhibiting the signs of ‘Ozempic face’ combined with aesthetic enhancements, other experts say they see no change.

Dr Leonard Jason – a professor of psychology at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois – doesn’t believe Nicole has taken weight loss drugs and he highlights that she has always had a slender frame.

He told this website: ‘She looks healthy and normal to me; nothing stands out as concerning from what I can see.’

Meanwhile Dr Colin Haile, who is a professor of psychology and addictions based out of Texas, added that she ‘seems fine when compared to other noticeably gaunt celebrities such as Sharon Osborne’.

The singer herself has never commented on taking Ozempic.

The Daily Mail has reached out to her management team for comment.

‘Ozempic face’ has increasingly been seen on celebrities, who look gaunt with sunken eyes, hollow cheekbones and sagging faces.

Katy Perry, Scott Disick and Jessica Simpson have all been labeled as suffering from the side effect after fans noticed their slimmed-down looks while the stars were out and about.

Dr Green says that ‘Ozempic mouth’ is something she is seeing among many of her clients taking the blockbuster weight loss medication.

She said: ‘Many users of Ozempic who I know report noticeable volume loss in the face, which can result in the formation of fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and jowls around the mouth.

‘This volume loss can also worsen the appearance of existing fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity, contributing to a more aged smile and overall look.’

Additionally, the term ‘Ozempic butt’ has been coined to describe the deflated look of a person’s buttocks after GLP-1 weight loss.

Some users who have lost large amounts of weight said their backsides have now ‘completely disappeared’ and shrunk so much they can ‘feel every bone’.

Some even said the problem was so bad they were constantly covering up their buttocks because they are self conscious of the way it looks.
