The comedy icon joined an array of high profile names, including pop legend Delta Goodrem at the star-studded event.

Hosted by the American Australian Association, the gala celebrates Australians prominent in the US entertainment industry.

Hogan made a return to public life in December following reports his health was worsening.

The Sydney-born star, who has been residing in Los Angeles for twenty years, had arrived back in his home town a year earlier in a wheelchair and was photographed being assisted by a minder.

The Flipper star stood up from the chair unassisted, but he struggled to walk as he clung onto his side, and appeared to be in agony due to his rib injury.

The actor has struggled with muscle wastage and dramatic weight loss after being diagnosed with retroperitoneal fibrosis (Ormond’s disease).

Discussing his condition during an interview with A Current Affair, Hogan revealed the benign growth has wrapped around the abdominal aorta and pressed on his kidney.

He admitted the devastating impact on his health had left him pining to leave the $3.5million Venice Beach home he shares with son Chance, 24, and return to the relative tranquility of his home country.

Hogan had a pacemaker fitted and said he is ‘being held together by string’ while attempting to work his way back to full health.
