A company in Michigan is issuing a recall for around 567,000 portable battery chargers that were distributed at Costco locations across the country. This action comes following 120 instances where the chargers overheated during the charging process, leading to two residential fires.
The recall pertains to the myCharge POWER HUB All-In-One 10,000mAh portable chargers with the model numbers AO10FK-A, AO10FK-B, and AO10FK-C. These chargers were available for purchase at Costco stores and online from January 2022 to November 2023, retailing for approximately $40. The announcement of the recall was made by myCharge in a notice released by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
myCharge, headquartered in Birmingham, Michigan, reported five cases of these chargers, which were manufactured in China, overheating, resulting in two household fires. Additionally, Costco received 115 returns of these chargers, as customers reported issues such as melting, expanding, smoking, fire, burning, exploding, or sparking. Fortunately, there have been no reports of any injuries that necessitated medical attention.
Owners of the recalled chargers should stop using them and contact myCharge for a replacement.
