Shaun Ryder has openly declared his commitment to continuing the use of the weight-loss medication, Ozempic, after successfully dropping over two stone.
The 63-year-old frontman of Happy Mondays has achieved this significant weight loss since starting the prescription in May 2023.
In a recent conversation, Ryder mentioned that he would only reconsider the jab if he started to look like a “screaming skull.”
Speaking with The Sun, he explained, “Yes, I still use them. With an underactive thyroid, even if you ate just lettuce and strawberries, you’d still weigh 26 stone.”
He further elaborated, saying, “I’m taking more medications now than ever before.”
However, he was quick to clarify, “But they’re all legal and very healthy.”

It comes after Shaun revealed his children would have been ‘taken off him years ago’ if it wasn’t for his wife.
The star shares two children – Pearl and Lulu – with wife Joanne, while he has four older kids from past relationships.
Speaking in an interview with Loaded Revival, the new digital version of the classic lads’ mag, the rocker opened up about fatherhood and his children’s battles with ADHD.
But while the star is certainly proud of his family, he’s the first to admit that his wife Joanna, whom he married in 2010, should take credit for their care as he dismissed his own abilities when asked what advice he would give about parenthood.
He remarked: ‘Oh, f**k me. Am I not the f**king best to get advice off? I mean, I’ve got to put my hands up and say my misses sorts out all the kids. If I were in charge of the kids I’d have had them taken off me by social f**king services years ago!
Shaun himself was diagnosed with the condition in his late 50s, with the singer noting that his ADHD explained all the ‘f**king madness’ when he was younger seeing as it affects behaviour and can lead to impulsive actions like drug use – which he has openly admitted to using.
It comes after the star previously told how he still has to ‘work hard and make money’ at his age in order to fund therapy for his children grappling ADHD.
Shaun, who starred in I’m A Celeb South Africa last year, had previously disclosed that only his two daughters had the condition, but has now detailed that Jael, Coco, Pearl, Lulu, Joseph, and Oliver also have it.

Talking to The Sun in 2023, the Black Grape frontman – who was diagnosed himself in his fifties – told how having the condition has meant one of his daughters is a ‘genius at maths’.
Candidly sharing the news, Shaun emphasised the financial strain, saying: ‘I have six kids and five of them have it. That’s why I’m always working, because I’ve got to pay for their f***ing therapy.’
He went on to stress the uniqueness of each ADHD case, stating that each one is different.
Shaun then reflected about how when he was at school, he would often leave the classroom, instantly forgetting what he had just been taught and how having the condition has affected his addictive tendencies.
He said: ‘Even though I wasn’t diagnosed until 50 odd years old, when I was at school while I was in the class I would take things and understand it, by the time the lesson had ended and I walked out that door I couldn’t remember anything. I just didn’t retain the information.
‘And also the ADHD, with me, led to promiscuous behaviour, drugs, trouble.’
Shaun first rose to prominence in the 80s with his band the Happy Mondays, alongside late brother Paul and their friends Mark Day, Paul Davis, and Gary Whelan. His friend and bandmate, Bez, later joined the band as a percussionist.
In the 90s he was also the lead singer of another band, Black Grape.
As well as his singing career, Shaun has also enjoyed successful stints on reality television.
