TLC has released a new preview for the 12th season of the series My 600-Lb. Life.

The forthcoming season of the reality series, according to the network, follows a set of seven ‘morbidly obese patients’ as they ‘strive to lose weight through diet and gastric bypass surgery.’

The patients embark on their weight loss journeys ‘with the help of’ Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, a bariatric surgeon based out of Houston who counsels them about the changes they need to make to prepare for the surgical procedure.

The episodes of the series focus on each patient as they speak about their food intake, how it impacts their life and how they’re looking for a change.

According to a logline from TLC, ‘This season explores the emotional and physical battles of all-new patients including a paralyzed man desperate to find a way to stand, a bride-to-be fighting to finally walk down the aisle and a recovering drug addict whose life is now dominated by a new addiction: compulsive eating.’

In a clip released to People, a patient named Abi said that he had been confined to his bed for seven years as result of his weight.

Another patient named Charles said that he lives with ‘excruciating’ pain due to his size, and doesn’t think he’s ‘got much of a life left.’

A patient named Rose said her ‘comfort is food,’ while a separate person on the show said that ‘the only thing that makes me feel better is when I eat until it physically hurts.’

In the preview, a patient named William was seen feasting on a pair of pizza pies topped with chips, as his mother was heard talking about her concerns for his future.

‘William is like a crashing plane,’ his mother said. ‘You can’t stop it – it’s heartbreaking to look at it.’

Another patient was seen ruminating on the massive health consequences they faced if they didn’t change their habits.

‘I need someone to help me – I’m ready to change my life,’ the patient said.

A patient named Deshaun was said to have not left his home in the past three years as result of complications stemming from his size.
